Included in the package is a lanyard, USB extension cable, a quick-start guide and the USB drive itself. The device includes a 3 volt lithium batter and 1 or 2GB of onboard flash memory (priced at $29.99 and $39.99 respectively).

The black drive is a little larger than other similar USB drives and blocky. The bulk may be a turnoff for some people, as many drives try to look sleek and sexy and fit nicely on your keychain on in your pocket. On the flip side, this unit will be a little harder to misplace.
The top of the drive has a series of six buttons. The first button has a key icon, which is used to begin and end the password sequence. The other five buttons are numbered 0-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, and 8-9 (each button has two numbers). There are also two small padlock icons with small LEDs under them, one indicating locked and the other unlocked. The locked icon flashes red when the drive is in a locked state, and the unlock icon flashes green for a short time when the device has been unlocked (i.e. you enter the correct password). Once the drive is removed, it will automatically lock itself within fifteen seconds (unless it is plugged into another computer within the time window). This feature is great in that the user does not have to remember to lock the drive; it also prevents a user from accessing the drive if they steal it from your desk while you’re at lunch.
Since there is a hardware layer, if you ever forget the pin, then there’s no way to retrieve it without destroying the drive. Corsair lets you register your PIN on its website, so it can easily be retrieved should it be forgotten.

Corsair’s padlock drive performs better than other comparable USB drives, and even managed to get close to the read speed of the laptop’s internal 60GB hard drive. Given this read speed, you will certainly be able to run portable applications very quickly, as well as stream media from the drive without any hicups. Corsair also employs dynamic wear-leveling technology to extend the life of the drive. According to Corsair, the drive will handle at least 10,000 write cycles, which should last the average user for well over ten years.
