More raw power and multimedia niceties can be had for less financial outlay from other manufacturers, but the Lifebook E8410 shines in terms of connectivity (802.11n and 3G are a real boon) and manageability. The biggest disappointments are that the display is a little dull, and a maximum storage capacity of 160GB is restrictive – especially for those who work with large files. A maximum battery life of up to 8 hours isn’t great either, and that’s using both the standard 8-cell (5200mAh) battery and a second 6-cell (3800mAh) unit in the modular optical drive bay.”

Canon has announced the Powershot SD890 IS (or IXUS 970 IS if you’re in Europe). This confusingly polyonymous digital camera features improved versions of features such as face detection and image stabilization, Canon says. It also features 10 million pixels in a 1/2.3 " (6.2 x 4.6 mm) sensor and an ISO 3200 mode. It also has a 5x zoom (the longest ever on the SD/IXUS series), covering a 37 – 185mm (equiv.) range which would be more impressive if it was a bit wider.

“The second factor that I want to look at is the comfort and ergonomic factor that Lapworks talked about. After using the stand in several of the different positions offered, I can honestly say that it was slightly more comfortable typing on and also more comfortable looking at whatever I was working on. The added tilt to my MacBook Pro’s keyboard felt very nice and made it feel easier to type on. However, if you are used to typing on a flat laptop keyboard, it might take a few days to get used to having the keyboard raised.”
