Nyko Intercooler for Playstation 3 Review

So how easy is it to install? There are only two steps involved; snap, and…snap! Snap on one piece, then snap on the other. It isn’t brain surgery. As long as you get the first piece on in the right order… you’ll be just fine. From there, how easy is it to use?

Once you’ve installed both pieces, all you have to do is turn it on and adjust the fan speed to your liking. Unfortunately, Nyko claims that the on/off switch on the intercooler is a substitute for the switch on the system. I say “nay”. The main breaker must be “on” in order for the system to turn on with the switch provided by the intercooler. Adjusting the fan speed is just a twist of a knob. Super simple.

The Nyko Intercooler is surprisingly quiet for a peripheral of this type. Come on, we all remember the nightmare that was the Xbox 360 intercooler, where you couldn’t have a decent conversation without shouting over the damn thing. At the highest speed, the Intercooler sounds like an old PC loading up. At the slowest, it is barely noticeable. Some people may complain that there is any noise at all, but if you’re attaching five fans to your PS3 so it won’t overheat and blow up, it’s a “no-duh” that there will be some noise attributed to the intercooler.
