Razer Destructor Mousepad Review

So, now that you’re armed with all this info, is the Razer Destructor the right tool for you to dessimate your online opponents?  That still depends on your preference for a mousepad, but if you’re one who likes the feel of the new low-drag mousepads, then it is certainly worth a look.  It offers smooth movement, with an ever-so-slight grit that actually feels rather satisfying.  In contrast, other “slick” mousepads felt a little too slick, which let my mouse drift a little too much when I took my hand off.

Because it is plastic, your wrist can stick to the pad when you get sweaty (or the room gets too humid), so this may get in the way of gamers that use their hand more than their wrist.  This is a property of nearly all plastic mousepads, so the only way to overcome it is to use a “wrist sweatband”, which also allows your wrist to glide across the pad.  The pad’s size is adequate.  It’s not too large or too small, and is about the same size as the SteelSeries SP, reviewed here.  It is also very rigid, but can bend slightly, so it can smooth out the minor crack on your desk.

The case is what differentiates this pad over competitors.  It is just too pretty, and looks like something an assassin carries their disassembled sniper rifle in.  It just screams “hard core”, which is what appeals to Razer’s primary demographic.

The retail price of this mousepad can reach up to $40, which is just insane.  Fortunately, these pads can be found online anywhere between the $25 and $35 price range, which is a bit more realistic.  While this may still seem like a lot, the Razer Destructor’s price is in-line with other “professional” gaming mousepads like the SteelSeries SP.   You get a much higher quality case with the Destructor, which looks very nice and helps to establish your claims as an “elite” gamer (although we all know it’s a lie).
