The clock, the current volume, the network status, and the power plan all can be displayed or hidden in Vista’s system tray. Here are the steps to do it. I like all of these notifications enabled in my system tray; however, many people hate them. Certainly, many people will have a reason to hide some of them. For example, if you are not using a laptop, then it is silly to have the power plan displayed.
Here is how to show or hide these notifications in Vista:
- Click on a blank area of the taskbar or the start orb
- Select Properties
- Select the Notification Area tab
- Under system icons, select the ones you want to be displayed.
- Then click OK
