Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Overview

The vast, rolling plains and mild climate of Ellyrion make this inner kingdom the perfect breeding ground for the finest Elven steeds in all of Ulthuan. Great herds of these amazingly swift and graceful creatures roam the grasslands throughout the year, and are prized among the noble lords of the Phoenix King’s court for their magnificent quality and majestic beauty.

The High Elves who dwell in Ellyrion are peerless horsemen who have fought to defend their fair isle against the spiteful Dark Elves since the time of Caledor the First. Mounted on steeds as swift as the wind, these light horsemen patrol the vast golden plains of their home, ready to strike should the treacherous armies of Malekith return.

The most accomplished warriors of this vast steppe land are called Reavers, and they ride to all corners of Ulthuan to serve as messengers, scouts and deadly ambushers. The Ellyrian Reavers are a swift and lethal fighting force, and the Witch King does not intend to let them run amok, disrupting his carefully-laid battle plans. He intends to strike hard at Ellyrion, and in fact he must if his scheme to capture the Phoenix Throne can succeed.

Ancient menhir stones stand tall among the waving grasses of Ellyrion, as they do in many other parts of Ulthuan. The steely gaze of Lord Uthorin is firmly fixed on these powerful constructs that anchor the Vortex, for they are the lynchpin in the Dark Elves’ plot to destroy the magical balance of Ulthuan and deprive the High Elves of the greatest advantage.

The menhirs are not the Dark Elves’ only objective in Ellyrion. The black-hearted invaders have surrounded the province’s capital city, Tor Elyr, cutting off its occupants from reinforcement and supply. Using batteries of Reaper bolt throwers, fearsome beasts of war and powerful Dark Magic, the black legions of Malekith have launched an all-out siege against the pristine marble walls of Tor Elyr. If this bastion of High Elf strength falls, the protectors of Ulthuan will lose their most valuable stronghold in the region.

Though the invaders have had some success in their initial forays into Ellyrion, plots and intrigues hamper their advance. The rivalry between the powerful noble houses of Lord Uthorin and Lady Arkaneth has drawn much of the attention away from the battle against the High Elves, and both leaders know that their conflict must end soon. Of course, the resolution will not be a peaceful one, and what was once a rivalry has now erupted into a full-fledged war between the two houses.

Lord Uthorin’s schemes have been aided by the timely arrival of the savage greenskins. Never ones to miss out on a chance at war and plunder, the Orcs and Goblins have come to ravage the lands of Ellyrion and leave nothing but desolation in their wake. This new menace will keep the High Elves busy while the leaders of House Uthorin prepare to deal their hated rivals a final, fatal blow.

Now that the Malekith’s armies have reached the Inner Kingdoms, the battle for Ulthuan has taken a dangerous turn for the High Elves. Lands long held safe from the reach of any enemy are within striking distance of the dread host of Naggaroth, and the cruel legions of the Witch King will delight in desecrating all that is sacred to their hated kin.

Now more than ever the courage and skill of the Ellyrian Reavers is needed to help stem the black tide that is racing across the mythic homeland of the Elves.

“Few are the select chosen that survive the reveries of the Death Night. Fewer still are those who leave the Cauldron with eyes of molten brass, burning with the hatred of our Dark god. These true chosen are taken into the cult and trained in the most secret of rites, emerging as masters of death second to only Khaine himself.” –  Haridar of Har Ganeth

The chosen dark priests of the bloody handed god, The Disciples of Khaine, can be found on the frontline of any Druchii assault. Using wicked ritual blades, a Disciple harvests the essence of their enemy and offers it to Khaine in exchange for fell blessings and dark powers. These dark gifts allow the Disciple to tend to the needs of the Dark Elf host, mending bones, suppressing pain, and even raising critically injured warriors to fight again. The Disciple of Khaine is the shepherd of war, ensuring the bloody slaughter can continue in the name of their dark god.

Disciple of Khaine Specialty

The Disciple of Khaine is a true master of murder. Trained in the dark rites of Khaine, a Disciple can steal the strength of a soul with just a nip of their razor sharp blades. With the essence of s soul taken from their opponents, the Disciple can enact dark rites, calling upon Khaine’s favor to bless Druchii warriors. This can make soldier immune to pain and even raise the dead to fight once more. A Disciple is also a consummate fighter and skilled torturer for Khaine relishes the essence taken from a slow agonizing demise over that of a quick well placed deathblow.

Playing as a Disciple of Khaine

The Disciple of Khaine must be in close range of his opponent as he requires the blood of the enemy to enact their dark rites. As such, a Disciple is trained both with the blade and the dark arts, capable of weaving the two into a staggering blend of offensive and defensive power. In small fights, the Disciple is a master of shifting the balance of a fight; what they reap from their enemies they give to their allies. What was once an opponent’s strength will soon become their own.

Fighting the Disciple of Khaine

The best way to deal with a Disciple of Khaine is to keep them out of arms reach. A Disciple’s true power can only be enacted if they can lay blade upon flesh. Deny them this and you deny them the advantage in a fight. If you find yourself facing one of these Dark Acolytes in close combat you must attack with reckless abandon. Feverishly attempt to overcome them before they can drain you’re very strength to use against you. Disciples must be watched carefully and their fell magic countered in short order, or you will find your very essence trapped in servitude to Khaine.

“A Sorceress must walk the dark paths of the Realm of Chaos, the deep pits of the oceans and the bowls of the fiery mountains in her quest for knowledge. The channeling of the raw Winds of Chaos is what gives the Sorceress her power. The Creatures of the Chaos Hells will bow to her will in the end. Such Power is vast but dangerous and the aspirant to the Dark Convent of Sorceresses must be courageous and strong.” –  From the sixth book of secrets by Kaladhtoir of Clar Karond

In times of war the Witch King calls upon his Convents of Sorceresses to rain death and destruction down upon the target of his ire. Their magical prowess will blight the warriors of the opposing army, scorch their souls from their bodies and bring ruination and curses aplenty upon their heads.

Sorceress Specialty

Like their High Elf kin, the Dark Elves are innately magical creatures. However, Dark Elf magic users do not commune with the magical energies of the Winds of Chaos and attempt to use them in harmony. Instead they use sheer force of will to bend the Winds to their dark intentions. This form of magic is known as Dhar, or Dark Magic. Dark Magic spells are incredibly destructive and capable of shattering almost any defense. However, this power does not come without a price. If the Sorceress’s will falters even a little the unstable power of Dark Magic will turn back upon the caster with a powerful backlash.

Playing as a Sorceress

The Sorceress is a powerful offensive caster, knowledgeable in the arcane arts that cause pain and suffering. A Sorceress can call upon the Dark Arts to curse her opponents causing lingering anguish. She is also proficient in manipulating the Winds of Magic to create powerful destructive spells. However, her most powerful asset is her Dark Magic. By sheer will alone, the Sorceress can gather the magical energy around her to increase the destructive power of her spells.

The more Dark Magic gathered by these workings, the greater the destruction a Sorceress can cause. However, the greater the Dark Magic gathered, the harder it is to control. A Sorceress must always carefully juggle the destructive power of her spells with the will it takes to control such powerful energies. Failing to do so will result in a backlash of magic that can severely injure the caster. strong>Fighting the Sorceress

With almost no physical protections, the Sorceress is vulnerable to both melee and missile assaults. However, one must time the assault perfectly in order to guarantee success. Opponents must learn the tell tale signs of a Sorceress who has built too much Dark Magic and strike only after that magic has turned on her. At this point, the Sorceress is weakest to both physical and magical assaults. Striking at a Sorceress fully in control of the Dhar around her will result in a rapid and painful demise.

I still think Warhammer is way better then WoW but the numbers do not seem to show it. I wonder if it is because Warhammer does not seem to be advertised as much as Warcraft.
