NH-U12P (index.php?option=com_content task=view id=5647 Itemid=38) and modified the SecuFirm mounting system to work with the LGA1366 based motherboards. Acoustic PC (was kind enough to send us not only the NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler, but they included the Noctua NH-C12P for comparison, which can also be mounted with the SecuFirm 2 system onto an x58 motherboard. Although the NH-C12P is not sold with the mounting equipment for the LGA1366 based motherboards; that problem can be easily resolved by picking up the LGA1366 SecuFirm2 Mounting-Kit from Noctua. If you’ve read Kris’ previous Noctua reviews, you will notice that Noctua have set a high standard with their products. So let’s see how the NH-U12P SE1366 pairs up with the Core i7 builds. Let’s get started, shall we?

USB Drives are great little gadgets for transporting our data to and from places we need to go, but sometimes they’re just not big enough so we’ve got to use an actual hard drive. Hard drives are nice for storage but standard 3.5” hard drives when put in an enclosure can end up being big and bulky, and of course you’ve got to provide a power supply as well for them, so you end up carrying quite a bit with you. The solution to this is using a 2.5” hard drive for your storage needs, they’ve gotten very large so you can take a lot with you. You could go an purchase a pre-made enclosure with the hard drive already in it, but those usually cost a bit more than just building one yourself. I’ve got several 2.5” hard drives floating around, and it’s much cheaper for me to just got and buy and enclosure for one of them, and you can usually get good deals on them if you look hard enough, both the enclosure and the hard drive. Today for review I’ve got a product from our friends at Eagle Tech, it’s a 2.5” enclosure that will definitely keep your hard drive nice and cool because the entire thing is made of mesh. It also looks rather cool because it’s basically see-through so you can see the hard drive inside, I’ve always liked see-through things for some reason because I guess I like to know what’s going on inside. It’s mesh yes, but it’s sturdy and well made, like most other Eagle Tech products are. So continue on to learn more…

There are many products out there that make you think ‘Why didn’t I think of that’, they just seem so simple, but yet very useful. Have you ever forgotten your laptop was plugged in and started to walk away with it? That’s a stupid question really, because everyone who has a laptop has done it at least once. If you do this enough times though you can damage your power supply or AC adapter, it’s just wires after all and they can break or even tear if enough force is applied to them. Today I’ve got the JerkStopper Cable Retention Device for review, it’s a very simple and useful product that will protect the AC Adapter on your laptop from possible damage when accidentally pulling or tugging on it. The JerkStopper works by utilizing a free USB, RJ11 or RJ45 port, it’s two pieces that clip together to lock your AC adapter cable in place, so if you do accidentally move your laptop while it’s still plugged in the force of the action is taken by the JerkStopper instead of your adapter’s plug. What’s nice it that you can use it for other cables as well like phone, USB or ethernet.
