BioShock PC Review
Tweak Town :: Friday, August 31, 2007
TTGamer have today posted a review of BioShock for the PC. Does the “spiritual successor” to the System Shock series live up to the hype? Perhaps the better question is, just how easily does it eclipse it?
X-Arcade Tankstick Arcade Controller Review
I4U :: Friday, August 31, 2007
“In addition to the dual joysticks there are the one and two player buttons along with eight buttons arrayed near each joystick and a trackball that feels like it came right out of a Millipede game. There are also pair of buttons on each side of the Tankstick that are ideally suited for flippers if you are into pinball games.”
Jeanne D’Arc (PSP) Review
Gaming Heaven :: Friday, August 31, 2007
If you love turn-based strategy and tactical games the PSP so far hasn’t been exactly the handheld of choice. With several high profile yet unsuccessful knockoffs of games like Advanced Wars and Final Fantasy Tactics from Nintendo’s camp, owners of the black device were left craving for more. And while D&D: Tactics delivered all that tactical goodness for D&D fans, the rest of the player-base remained unmoved. Will the adventures of Joan of Arc be what the PSP needed to satisfy them?

Bioshock (PC and Xbox 360)
Gaming Heaven :: Wednesday, August 29, 2007
Coming from one of the most consistently innovative and exciting developers out there: Irrational Games (now 2K Boston), Bioshock is, on the face of it, a conventional shooter. Compared to games like STALKER with its A-Life AI and open-ended structure, Bioshock’s confined environments and set-pieces might look old fashioned and tired. You might also consider the 5 or 6 distinct enemy types boring and a bit stingy. With most shooters you’d be right, but Bioshock transcends all of these concerns by being the most compellingly immersive shooter since HL2.
Call of Juarez – PC Review
Game Pyre :: Monday, August 27, 2007
All in all, Call of Juarez is a pretty fun game. The poor online multiplayer community hurts the replay value, as the game itself is very linear. The story is enough to keep you going through till the end. If you’re looking for a different FPS game from the repetitive WW2/Futuristic/Modern Warfare, give this one a try. But as I said, if you are buying a game for a purely multiplayer experience, this isn’t going to be at the top of your ‘must buy’ list.

Apple iWork 08 Reviewed
The TechLounge :: Monday, August 27, 2007
“One thing you find after you install iWork ’08 is that, when you start, you’re offered quick tutorials. If you have time, I’d strongly recommend the initial tour of iWork ’08, as well as the video tutorials on basic features and, also, the various features that set the iWork ’08 applications apart from their competitors. Apple offers a 30 day free trial of iWork on their website. So how do the new versions of Pages and Keynote compare to their ’06 counterparts? How does the suite stack up against Microsoft Office for the Mac?”

“In the past XSReviews has worked quite closely with Ageia, reviewing their hardware and testing out some of their supported games to see how PhysX effects gameplay and ultimately, to see if that extra add-in card is worth it. Recently I had the pleasure of conducting a lengthy interview with Dan Forster who is the PR and Marketing manager for Ageia in Europe and he was able to answer some of our questions on upcoming games like Warmonger, using the PhysX SDK, competition from the Havok engine, and what we can expect from the Ageia hardware in the future.”

Bioshock Demo First Impressions
Game Pyre :: Thursday, August 23, 2007
This game is one not to be missed by fans of FPS games. Great graphics, great controls, and even the demo offers up some cool ways to kill your enemies, such as electrocution and fire. The setting offers a very creepy feel, such as games like FEAR, but also sets it in an alternate past. The only complaint I have about the demo is it was so short, leaves me wanting more. But then again, that is exactly what a demo is supposed to do, and this one does it very well. I can’t wait to play the final game.

With Your Destiny review
YouGamers :: Saturday, August 18, 2007
“WYD is often tedious, sometimes frustrating and rarely, if ever, fun. The game world feels a bit like what I imagine the wild West to have been. Towns are a free-for-all of unmonitored item trading and unsolicited requests for virtual sex, and combat zones are filled with quest-item hoarders. Without an instancing model, even the introductory quest had a number of higher level players keeping the prize item for themselves. After killing the first quest’s boss in one hit, these unscrupulous hucksters would then ask if I’d like to trade for the quest item. Most often, they’d ask for items, which seemed ridiculous; what did they want, my level-0 dagger?”

As the man behind such highly revered titles as Thief: The Dark Project and System Shock 2, Levine’s name has since become synonymous with exemplary storytelling in games. True to form, Levine has created a universe for BioShock that is horrifying, mesmerizing, and entirely visceral.
Sword of the New World: Granado Espada review
YouGamers :: Friday, August 17, 2007
“In Granado Espada, instead of just a single character, you create a whole party of three characters. The game calls this “MCC” or Multi Character Control.
Character creation also reveals Korean-style design. Character customization options are virtually non-existing. You can pick between a male and a female, and choose one of the half-dozen classes and then pick your starting outfit from about a dozen different choices based on your class, but that’s it.”

Age of Conan preview
YouGamers :: Thursday, August 16, 2007
“Guilds will be able to build and man castles, perhaps even whole towns; such battlements can be laid siege to by other groups and you’ll be able to return fire by manning the likes of catapults. Spread over a total of 300 km2 of play area, split into different geographical regions, there should be plenty of room for a decent guild to build a nice little empire. Mounts will be available to travel around the zoned world (so no seamless background loading unfortunately), and they can be ridden into battle too.”
Ideazon Fang Gamepad
PC Apex :: Thursday, August 16, 2007
“So what happens when a U.S. military training tool, built by a gaming keyboard company, is declassified and then made available to the general public? The Ideazon Fang is what happens. The Fang is Ideazon’s first stand alone gaming pad incorporating the highly acclaimed Z Engine™ Technology.
“FANG was engineered and built as a training tool that lets military personnel instantly learn lifesaving tasks under combat conditions, but we have always known that the awesome functionality of FANG also had immediate applications in the gaming market,” said Chris Rathgeber, president of Ideazon Inc. “While FANG has been used successfully for serious training purposes, we predict that gamers are not going to want to let it go.”
By now even casual gamers are familiar with Ideazon’s Zboard. Its interchangeable keyboards, keystroke anti-ghosting features, vast selection of pre-defined key layouts and extremely easy learning curve has made it a favorite among the gaming community. I’ve been using one for several years now and it has elevated my game from average to …well …um …slightly better than average. It’s a keyboard not a miracle worker. There is a great deal I like about the Zboard and a few things I don’t.”

Wii Board – What are the possibilities?
Bona Fide Reviews :: Tuesday, August 14, 2007
The new E3 this year was an interesting change of pace from the E3’s of yore. Gone is the gamer paradise we once loved, and replacing it, a business to business summit meant mostly if not solely for industry. As such, E3 had a lot less to offer in terms of playable demos, but a lot MORE to offer in terms of company press conferences. The big 3 got together to show off their current projects and shiny new toys, and Nintendo was certainly no exception. It’s big headliner? The Wii Balance Board.
Overlord – XBox360 Review
Gamepyre :: Monday, August 13, 2007
Comedy is hard to do; and even harder in an interactive medium like a video game. This game pulls it off well; there was many times I laughed out loud, and I always had a grin on my face. I thoroughly enjoyed this game. When a game does so many things right, the things it does wrong are all the more obvious. Load screen; get used to them! They are every where and they are too long; one I times at 40 seconds! I don’t understand the need for load screens anymore. So many games that are bigger with higher resolution graphics don’t have them. At the very lest, they should put something entertaining on the loading screen not just the word loading and some minions running by on it.

Big Brain Academy Wii Degree
Bona Fide Reviews :: Thursday, August 09, 2007
If there is anything that could be said for “educational” gaming, it’s that generally it sucks. Don’t get me wrong, I believe videogames are art, and are a media that is often looked over in importance in today’s day and age, but lets be honest with ourselves here. What was the last educational game you ever played? Was it one of the PC “Jumpstart” series, or was it some sort of test trivia game?

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
Bjorn 3d :: Thursday, August 09, 2007
Your head hurts, bad. Feels like you’ve been in a comma for the past thirty years. Your vision is still a little blurry as you open your eyes. What room is this? Look like a hospital room. How did you get here? Doesn’t matter, you’re safe for the moment. You try to remember what happened but all that’s left is the memory of your father’s death by the creature called ‘Green eye’ and the NEVEC corporation’s involvement in the Frontier Project. The door to your room opens and man walks in introducing himself as Yuri. Removing a thermal energy (T-eng) coupling from your arm he whispers that this will be our little secret just as two more people walk in. A young woman named Luka and her brother, an eccentric young man named Rick. Seems you were rescued by some snow pirates. Over the next few weeks as you begin to regain your stregnth you hear about plans to attack the Akrid and slow the NEVEC coporation’s plans for the Frontier Project. All the snow pirate’s need is someone who can pilot a VS unit. Are you up for it?
PhysX in GRAW 2
XS Review :: Thursday, August 09, 2007
“Around a year and a half after their original release, PhysX cards still cause much controversy when discussion about them begins. They have the usual fanboys and skeptics and all those in between. No one can deny however, that there hasn’t been many games that really utilize the PhysX PPU (Cell Factor is perhaps the only one) and shows off what the technology can really do. Now Ubisoft have released their second game to support PhysX, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (GRAW 2). With a special level and extra effects for those with Ageia’s cards, will this game make it worth buying one? Read on to find out.”

For the average Joe, this will not be a good buy. If you have friends into SCI-FI and you’re trying to fit in, this is not the way to do it. This game is great, but only for space fanatics.

Hands-on preview of Medal of Honor: Airborne
YouGamers :: Tuesday, August 07, 2007
“Even though Leino kept telling us the AI is barely half finished in the beta, we saw some nice movement and reactions from the enemies. The opposing Italian Blackshirt troops in the first mission were cannon fodder, but regular German troops guarding AA nests and especially their officer were much tougher to dispatch. You have to plan your advance and think outside the most obvious routes to be successful, and you should keep an eye on what your fellow paras are doing to set up flanking manoeuvres – these really seemed to confuse and panic the enemy.”
