Do you need to protect your phone but can’t find a good case? Are you using an extended battery and can’t use a case but still need protection? Then you at least need a good screen protector.
I have heard about the ZAGG Invisible Shield screen protectors for a while, but wasn’t convinced that the $15 entry price was worth it. Like many Smartphone users, my slim Android LG Marquee would not last an entire day, so I upgraded to an extended-life 3800mAh battery. I had great battery life, but could not use any standard case, which put my device at risk.
I am now a believer in the ZAGG Invisible Shield screen protector, but many people have problems with them. Let me regale you with my experience.
One of the great features about the Invisible Shield is that it is die cut to fit your phone, and even has spots for the proximity sensor and camera. Using generic screen protectors meant that I would have to cut my own, and there’s no way I have a steady enough hand to do this properly.
On the next page we look at the features.
Scratch Proof
Now you can use that same powerful technology to protect your LG Marquee. It is so tough that we back it with a lifetime guarantee. So, if it ever does wear or scratch, we will replace it for free, for the life of your device. And if you ever need to remove the invisibleSHIELD, no problem; it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue.
Nano-Memory Technology
- Durability – Self-healing properties offer unbelievable resistance to scratches and damage, and will extend the life of your device
- Coverage – Greater pliability and flexibility allows the invisibleSHIELD designs to cover the corners and curves of your device better than the competition.
- Ease of Install – The improved pliability also facilitates easier installation
- Drop Resistant – Improved grip makes it easier to hang onto your expensive gadgets
- Glare Reduction – The invisibleSHIELD gives your device a slight “orange peel” finish that breaks up glare and reduces finger print smudges, while still creating high resolution screen viewing clarity.
45-day Money Back Guarantee
Your purchase is backed by a 45 Day Money-Back Guarantee. If you’re not completely satisfied with your ZAGG product, return it within 45 days of your purchase date for a 100% refund.
We look inside the box and install the Shield on the next page.
The box is rather thick for a screen protector, but that’s because it is a complete kit to ensure proper installation. Inside the box is a vial of adhesive solution, micro-fiber cleaning cloth, rubber squeegee and the screen protector itself. Many people will not be happy that only one protector comes in the box, because if you screw it up then you have to purchase another one.
There is a simple installation procedure, and if you do not follow it then you will not be happy with the results. The instructions are printed on the inside of the box when you open it. I was timid at first, but be confident and you’ll do it right.
First you have to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Make sure there are no skin oils and that you’re applying this in an area without dust.
The included solution is what makes the protector semi-permanent. You have to spray your fingertips with the solution first. Doing this ensures that you don’t create fingerprints when handling the plastic protector sheet.
You then peel the screen protector off the backing and then moisten the front and back side with the application solution… DON’T spray any on your phone.
Then you simply place the Shield on your device, with the adhesive side down. It will have a little give while the solution is still wet, so you can slide it into place. Then you use the included squeegee to push the excess moisture and any ubbles away from the center. Then you soak up any excess with the included lint-free cloth.
At this point the Invisible Shield won’t be so transparent and you will see some defects. These defects and bubbles will go away if you leave your phone alone for the next twelve hours. After about a day or two the shield will be completely transparent and unnoticeable. Trust me. I was skeptical at first, but after following the instructions and waiting I am very happy with the results.
So what’s it like? We tell you on the next page.
As far as protection goes, the Invisible Shield is awesome. The screen will have a slightly rubbery feel and has a little drag to it if you have clean hands. Once you use the phone a few times then you will “prime” the surface with your skin oils and texting (or “Swype-ing”) is very comfortable. I haven’t noticed any difficulty with the phone not responding to my touch because of the screen protector. Additionally, there is no glare but you can see a slight texture to the plastic if you look closely.
I feel a lot better that my phone now has some protection on it. The Invisible Shield will not protect from impact like a good case will, but will certainly prevent any scratches from your pocket, including being in close proximity to car keys or any other metal things like USB sticks and other gadgets.
The protector does come with a 45-day money-back guarantee (through the manufacturer and not the retailer), and if you register with ZAGG then they will send you a replacement if you ever need it.
I was unsure of the ZAGG Invisible Shield screen protector, but it does a great job and truly does look better than other screen protectors I have used in the past.

[…] tablet. I previously used a ZAGG Insivible Shield screen protector on an older Android phone (review here), and was very impressed with it. The screen protector stayed on longer than the phone it was put […]
I thought this was a pretty good review, personally. I hope that they make this for ipads, I’d love to use this along with the ipad 2 case I just got.
Hell no, he's not writing here. If you don't know to capitalize the first word of a sentence then you better get back to offering apple pies to customers.
is this a review or an ad? this is some pretty weak reviewing.
This was not sponsored… I purchased this myself and am getting no compensation whatsoever for this review.
As far as the “weak reviewing”… There’s no benchmarks or scientific tests I can put it through. We certainly welcome new writers if you think you can do a better job.
