Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII Review

OK, so let’s recap:

The game has some good things to offer but like I was saying at the beginning of the review, I expect more from my 360 games and this one simply does not provide them. If developers want to make a title that really stands out and helps drive sales of their product and the 360, they need to take full advantage of all the benefits a powerful system like the 360 has to offer.

As it is, there is still another five months before the PS3 comes out and then the norm will be what is currnetly the best. These subpar developed games won’t impress anyone enough to warrant purchase of a $400 to $600 system. Hmmmmmm……

	REPORT CARD : Blazing Angels : Squadrons of WWII category rating comments Creativity 2 The game is a WWII fighter pilot game, the missions are varied and the controls are done pretty tight, but I did note that the whole experiece felt vaguely familiar. The game lacks that certain “something” that propels games into new territory. Yeah the squad that works with you can be commanded to do special tasks when necessary and I felt the game’s control implementation was pretty good. But we certainly aren’t breaking new ground here. Sound 3 Really good voice acting and decent sound effects marred by inconsistancies in the sound quality. Longevity 3 The game does have quite a few missions in it and when you play the campaign mode you only get so many “continues” so you could end up playing through the begining parts of the game several times in order to get good enough to beat some of the later missions. I must also mention the multiplayer option on Xbox live. This does give the game a little more legs for your gaming dollar. Is it any good? Eh, I would much rather play something else then do online dogfighting. Graphics 3 They blip in and out while playing, there is some slowdown when the action gets too hot and heavy and as the game goes on the scenery starts to become nothing more then dark colors. I wanted that spit and polish that I’ve seen on Kameo, Call of Duty and even Need for speed, this game just does not cut the mustard. Fun Factor 3 Will you have fun? Well, depending on your expectations and entertainment threshold, watching paint dry could be fun. But yes, there is some mild amusement to be had here. You may do well to try the multiplayer mode, but that will get old after a short amount of time. FINAL VERDICT: 3 out of 5 stars
