Dead Rising! The feel good game of the season!

It’s really a great game across the board, Playstation couldn’t pull it off, and certainly the Gamecube couldn’t either. Maybe the new generation systems will get a port once they launch but to be honest with you, this is easily one of the best three games on the 360 and one of the best games in recent memory, all systems included. Sure the save function has left some players feeling a bit robbed (you can only save in the office or a bathroom, and for a mall this size, there isn’t that many bathrooms) and there is some hokey dialogue to go along with the “B” movie feel to it, but trust me, there are several surprises that the folks at Capcom thought up that I was just so pleased with. They didn’t rest on their laurels, they actually hunted them down and beat them with a plastic plant.

Creativity 5 It’s the most fun I have ever had throwing dishes at zombies while having the ability to jump up onto boxes and shelves and eaves and all sorts of other places most games don’t let you go. The game may be inspired by George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead (they both take place in a mall) but the similarities end once the mission ramps up.
Sound 5 I love the theme music to this game, solid accompaniment that takes us all back to a time when Reagan was president and a zombie movie came out every other month.
Longevity 5 I don’t care who you are, you are not going to be able to save everyone the first time you play this game, you will miss missions, you will fail other survivors, you will need to play the game, again. But what’s this, a surprise at the end of the 72 hours…
Graphics 4 It is not without its flaws, there is some cutscenes that could have been smoothed over a bit better. Some of the characters look like they may have a lazy eye, that perfect polish is not there throughout the game. Still it looks good, and no other current system could even touch the graphical demands that this game requires.
Fun Factor 5 If you can’t have fun playing this game, then chances are you can’t have fun at all, or just don’t like videogames. Either way, this is solid entertainment and one hell of a way to spend your gaming time. Wait till you get the motorcycle and start mowing down zombies. The aiming system can be frustrating at times, and you will get chomped on a few times while using it.
FINAL VERDICT: 5 out of 5 stars
