Delphi’s SkyFi3 packs alot of functionality into a compact little unit that can be used in your car, home/office, or even on the go. It’s primary function is as an XM radio, but does offer a few additional features.
The timeshifting and other DVR capabilities of this unit is what sets the SkyFi3 apart from other XM radios. It is extremely convenient to skip back to re-hear what you just missed, and skipping radio commercials is a dream come true. Not to mention the ability to Bookmark your favorite artists and songs and schedule a recording of your favorite radio show.
Unfortunately, not everything is perfect about the unit. The limited external storage does not make it fit as your primary MP3 player, but is a neat way to keep some of your favorite tunes with you in the car. While the screen is a little lacking, it delivers all the information you need, and is still way better than listening to traditional FM radio. As soon as a song starts you can instantly see the channel, artist and track title… even the few commercials will display their website or other information!
It may be a pain to buy additional docking kits to listen to the radio anywhere, but at least the option is there for those who want it. Overall, the Delphi SkyFi3 is very good if you’re looking for a capable (and portable) XM radio.
