23/10/06 – Future, the UK’s leading publisher of games magazines and websites, is delighted to announce that over half a million UK gamers voted for this year’s Golden Joystick Awards – smashing all previous records!
Now in its 24th year as the UK’s only awards voted for solely by gamers – more than 500,000 people came forward to have their say. The 16 award categories will be exclusively announced this Friday, October 27th, in a glittering ceremony at the Park Lane Hilton, London.

With TV’s hairiest Bristolian, Justin Lee-Collins hosting the bash, many of the categories went right up to the wire. At the close of voting, four games were still in with a shout for “Ultimate Game of the Year” making it one of the closest years in the history of the event.
