” According to our information, M-System-SanDisk is currently working on a new series of drives, which for the first time is aimed at private consumers and not for sole military applications, and have entered an advanced production stage. The new drives are supposed to be marketed as part of a few manufactures’ laptop computers, and rumors refer to Dell as being the first to integrate these drives into its Core 2 Duo line of laptops in a number of months.
Preliminary testing of the new drives indicates that in comparison with a Western Digital’s SATA 80GB 7200 RPM drive, the M-Systems-SanDisk drive displays a solid and steady read rate. However, the write test displayed the weakness of the new drive, which presents a terrible writing rate compared with a standard HDD, in this current version. The SSD wins the random read test very easily over the HDD, but was a little disappointing in the Burst test.”

EPoX AF570+ Ultra nForce 570 Motherboard Review

EPoX has done a good job with the 570 Ultra chipset. It has many of the features of last year’s nForce 4 Ultra chipset. The only real glaring omissions from the board is the lack of a second PCI Express x16 slot, but the ordinary user won’t need two video cards. Other than that the EPoX board features are second to none in the mainstream chipset.

The need for larger power supplies is finally here. It seems like only a few days ago it would have been major overkill to have an 850 watt power supply in your personal computer. With the recent release of the 8800 series from Nvidia and the Quad core CPUs starting to come out, it appears that a good 400 to 500 watt power supply may not be enough, or at least the bare minimum. Today we have a very interesting subject to consider: The Piracy of Online Content that keeps drawing a lot of attention and heat around the world. This problem has existed since the advent of the Internet and in the last few years it has grown even worse. Today we will analyze the reasons for the increasing amount of piracy among software, games and even music and movies. There must be a significant reason why so many people are downloading software, games, music and movies illegally instead of buying it. I believe that people will not steal without good reason.
Back in June we started a survey about warez, and we started to research the reasons behind it that motivate people to commit the crime. As I said, there must be reasons why there are so many popular warez sites and demand for it. It took many weeks to investigate the issue and to understand the reasons behind it — and maybe to find out and to suggest a solution to solve this growing problem. So, what causes people to download software illegally? I will tell you why…

Zalman recently launched a new low-profile cooler by the name of CNPS8000. Physically it looks to have a lot of potential; It’s a great looking product overall. Included is a fan speed controller for when you feel the need for an extra punch. Sadly, in our testing we have found even with that extra cooling ability, this cooler falls short.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8I945EF-RH, which has an Intel 945G Express Northbridge chipset and an Intel ICH7-DH Southbridge. The new CNPS9700LED shares the same exact appearance as its small brother only it’s bigger. The fan size jumps from a moderate 92mm to an enormous 110mm. That alone should make the cooler outperform its smaller brother. But does it have enough performance in it to outperform the likes to the Thermalright Ultra-120 and the Scythe Infinity? Lets see.

WHEN INTEL UNVEILED its P965 Express chipset at Computex, many were left wondering if any motherboard manufacturers would bother building boards based on the older 975X Express. The P965 was a newer design—one built on fancier 90nm process technology—and its ICH8-series south bridge chips offered a more advanced array of features than the 975X’s year-old ICH7s. At the time, motherboard makers questioned whether they’d bother building 975X boards for enthusiasts, and they seemed to be leaning toward making high-end boards based on the P965.
Abandoning the 975X in favor of the newer, flashier P965 was a bold idea, but one that was ultimately sunk by the P965’s lack of support for CrossFire multi-GPU configurations. However, ATI recently began supporting CrossFire on the P965, raising the question of whether there’s much point to the 975X anymore. To find out, we’ve collected the P965 and 975X Platinum motherboards from MSI. Both boards support CrossFire and Intel’s latest Core 2 processors, but the 975X Platinum costs about $20 more. The question is: why?
