EarthLink CEO Garry Betty Dies

Garry Betty, former CEO of Internet service provider EarthLink, died yesterday from complications of liver cancer. (Wikipedia lists the cause of death as adrenal cortical cancer.) He was 49. According to articles in The Atlanta Journal Constitution and elsewhere, Betty had been with Earthlink for 10 years, previously serving as the CEO of Digital Communications Associates. Betty graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, according to an AP report. He had stepped down from his EarthLink position just weeks ago after receiving the cancer diagnosis.

When we first saw AeroCool introduce the Masstige and CoolView in August and September of 2005 we were immediately struck by how ease these cases made building a system. Not wanting to change something that isn’t broken AeroCool has now introduced the Zero Degree Flex Case. This case uses some of the basic principles that the other two cases used, but the Zero Degree has some additional refinements added such as a 250mm side-panel fan along with room inside the case for three 120mm fans.

Then depending on our own specific needs we will select components accordingly. Gaming is an obvious category where many enthusiasts fall into and is probably the most difficult crowd to build for, as a perfect balance of components is required.
Therefore, today we have decided to try and create a high quality Core 2 Duo system using parts from well-known brand names, for under $1000. This time we are going to build the entire system from the ground up for under $1000 including a 19” LCD monitor. Given this system includes a Core 2 Duo E6300 processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory, a DVD recordable drive, Radeon X1950 Pro, 19″ DVI 8ms LCD, 400GB SATAII HDD, ASUS motherboard along with case, keyboard and mouse, we think it is a pretty good buy.
