Linux Image Quality Comparison
Phoronix :: Thursday, January 04, 2007
“With the great deal of articles that we publish in regards to NVIDIA and ATI display drivers, it is very evident that at this time NVIDIA has the lead when it comes to the frame-rate performance — with their Linux drivers performing nearly the same as their Windows ForceWare counterpart. ATI has been struggling to improve the performance of their fglrx drivers, and while they had made strides last year, they still have a great deal of work ahead of them. However, one of the areas that often is not mentioned in Phoronix articles is the image quality between ATI and NVIDIA’s hardware with their respective drivers. In this article today we will be looking at both company’s image quality under Linux in video playback and gaming environments.”

ASUS WL-500W SuperSpeed N Wireless Router Review
Think Computers :: Wednesday, January 03, 2007
“ASUS isn’t just known for its fantastic motherboards and bare-bones laptops. It also produces a series of wireless devices, most notably the WL-500G, an 802.11g-compliant wireless router that has a built-in USB port. The router can be combined with an external hard drive to set up a file server, or a printer to set up a print server. The WL-500W, the subject of this review, is the WL-500G’s big brother. It is a pre-N router, meaning it supports the most current draft specifications of 802.11n as of its manufacture date and firmware revision. Read on for a investigative review.”

Hardware Logic :: Wednesday, January 03, 2007
While it’s easy to recommend which parts to buy, not many people actually stop to tell you why, or bother to explain to you what the different choices are, or what they mean. First and foremost, planning out your system build will ensure you buy the correct parts, and that the parts you buy will not only work together, but will do so optimally.

AeroCool Zero Degree Flex Case Review
Hi Tech Reviews :: Wednesday, January 03, 2007
AeroCool knows when something is working right, so why change it. When we first saw AeroCool introduce the Masstige and CoolView in August and September of 2005 we were immediately struck by how ease these cases made building a system. Not wanting to change something that isn’t broken AeroCool has now introduced the Zero Degree Flex Case. This case uses some of the basic principles that the other two cases used, but the Zero Degree has some additional refinements added such as a 250mm side-panel fan along with room inside the case for three 120mm fans.

Amazon Unbox Interview
Digital Trends :: Wednesday, January 03, 2007
“With the recent availability of movie downloads on Apple’s iTunes and the Amazon Unbox movie download service, video downloads have become more front and center in the minds of consumers as they consider how to spend their entertainment dollars. Though the iTunes Store would seem to be the immediate dominant leader in this space given their iPod market share and early lead with television video downloads, Amazon is betting they will have a thing or two to say about that with their Unbox offering. Amazon director of digital media Roy Price recently took some time to conduct an interview with Digital Trends about the Amazon Unbox video download service ”

ASUS P5B-E Plus Motherboard – Fighting to be King of P965
Tweak Town :: Wednesday, January 03, 2007
“ASUS’s first P965 board we tested, the P5B Deluxe, while able to keep up on the onboard features, it certainly isn’t able to keep up when it comes down to the crunch in the overclocking front. ASUS fall behind by nearly 80MHz in the FSB department, and with the latest BIOS from Gigabyte, there is even more speed coming from the DQ6, as it keeps surprising us.

ASUS to this point has decided rather than relinquish the performance/overclocking crown to its partner, they have decided to bring out a board that is designed to overclock from the word go.”

Building a Core 2 Duo gaming system for under $1000
TechSpot :: Wednesday, January 03, 2007
When it comes time to build a new computer or upgrade an existing platform most of us will be doing it according to a set budget, always hoping to get the best bang for our buck. Then depending on our own specific needs we will select components accordingly. Gaming is an obvious category where many enthusiasts fall into and is probably the most difficult crowd to build for, as a perfect balance of components is required.

Therefore, today we have decided to try and create a high quality Core 2 Duo system using parts from well-known brand names, for under $1000. This time we are going to build the entire system from the ground up for under $1000 including a 19” LCD monitor. Given this system includes a Core 2 Duo E6300 processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory, a DVD recordable drive, Radeon X1950 Pro, 19″ DVI 8ms LCD, 400GB SATAII HDD, ASUS motherboard along with case, keyboard and mouse, we think it is a pretty good buy.

Ultra X-Blaster Case Review
techPowerUp! :: Wednesday, January 03, 2007
The Ultra X-Blaster is a midi tower ATX case with a lot of potential. It may sport a small price tag, making the buy an easy one, but certainly does not disappoint. The case is quite sturdy, features drive rails for easy installation as well as a screwless setup for expansion cards. The included 400W XVS FlexForce modular power supply is a great addition, making this case the perfect allrounder for anyone looking to build their own system.

Bjorn 3d :: Wednesday, January 03, 2007
I received the ETASIS ET850 850 Watt power supply a few days before Christmas and immediately began to wonder if part 2 of my daydream; ‘meets the needs of the needs of the greater majority of my readers at a price that everyone could afford’, would be affirmed. Please join me as we explore this product in great detail and see if this entire scenario is surreal, or if perhaps sometimes dreams really do come true.
