XTracPads Hybrid Mousing Surface
Dragonsteel Mods :: Monday, January 26, 2009
XTracPads (really like the design on them, the overall quality, and the fact that they’re just a good all around product. Today for review I’m taking a look at a new mousepad from XTracPads called the Hybrid. What makes this pad special is the fact that it appears to be a cloth mousepad, but yet has the slickness and qualities of a plastic surface through a process of blending plastic to the cloth on a molecular level to create a very good mousing surface. The Hybrid has the qualities of a cloth pad in that it can be rolled and taken with you, and, and mentioned, the qualities of a plastic pad as well, truly a hybrid pad that gives the user the best of both worlds. So read on to learn more about the XTracPads Hybrid mousing surface…

NVIDIA’s ION Platform: Hands-On
Techgage :: Friday, January 23, 2009
There’s been a fair amount of attention hovering around NVIDIA’s ION this month, and for good reason. It’s small, offers decent performance, and can deliver huge peripheral connectivity. We were able to spend some time with the ION earlier this month, putting it through various tests, such as gaming, HD playback and even Photoshop. Read on for all of our experiences.

Building an AMD HTPC – Capable of Blu-ray HD Audio Playback
Tweak Town :: Thursday, January 22, 2009
“It has been quite a while since I last went under the hood of my current Home Theater PC (HTPC), but judging by the gradual degrading performance that I was beginning to see when watching the latest movies, it was pretty clear that an upgrade was in order.

With way too much Intel chip action in this office, we decided it was time to get some AMD silicon in play around here. So, we contacted our friends at AMD to see if they would hook us up with a processor to use in our new HTPC build. They obliged rather nicely with not only one, but four of their latest processors to try out – ranging from dual-core all the way up to quad-core – we’ll pick one today based on a range of tests.”

The History of Social Networking
Digital Trends :: Thursday, January 22, 2009
“Long before it became the commercialized mass information and entertainment juggernaut it is today, long before it was accessible to the general public, and certainly many years before Al Gore claimed he “took the initiative in creating” it, the Internet – and its predecessors – were a focal point for social interactivity. Granted, computer networking was initially envisioned in the heyday of The Beatles as a military-centric command and control scheme. But as it expanded beyond just a privileged few hubs and nodes, so too did the idea that connected computers might also make a great forum for discussing mutual topics of interest, and perhaps even meeting or renewing acquaintances with other humans. In the 1970s, that process began in earnest.”

Interview with Robert Krakoff – Co-founder & President of Razer
Driver Heaven :: Thursday, January 22, 2009
This is a pretty complex question and therefore my reply is somewhat truncated.

Science has already made a rudimentary game that can read minds (or more accurately, measure concentration), through an implant that gives basic functionality of operating a computer to a quadriplegic, and another implant that helps a paraplegic to walk.

Were mapping the entire brain out, right down to the individual neurons, in an attempt to emulate intelligence from its source. This will be an important step forward in learning how the brain functions. Once we can harness the full power of reading minds then we will be able to tap into the brain directly, and create a two-way stream.

Dual Boot Windows 7 with XP/Vista in three easy steps

Now that Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 7 (beta) is publicly available, almost everyone is itching to get their grubby paws on a copy and take it for a test drive.

However, because this is only a beta release most people simply aren’t willing to part with their established installations of Windows Vista or XP. With that mind, we’re going to look at one easy way of dual booting Windows 7 Beta with either Vista or XP in three painless steps.

CES 2009
Bjorn 3d :: Tuesday, January 20, 2009
This year I attended the CES show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Now, unfortunately, with confusion and really not knowing what to do and how to go about it, it kept me from actually visiting the booths inside the Las Vegas Convention Center itself. This was my very first CES so, as always, there’s bound to be some problems. But I did get a chance to meet up with some companies that had displays throughout the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. These companies felt it was a better idea to set up their displays at their hotel rooms so they could get a better one on one with reviewers, editors, and other related sites/businesses in the computer industry. I met with five companies on a one on one interview.

Technology Dictionary: Common Terms Defined
Digital Trends :: Tuesday, January 20, 2009
“Listen to two tech-savvy people chat away and your head will spin: It’s all gigahertz this and megapixel that. Thankfully for those who can’t tell the difference between Blu-ray and Bluetooth, HDMI and HDTV, we’re happy to provide a handy glossary to several common acronyms, phrases and other industry jargon relating to televisions, computers, mobile phones and other consumer electronics:”

CES 2009 Day 3
Hardware Logic :: Monday, January 19, 2009
“After the Friday night we had in Las Vegas, it is a miracle that we made it to Day 3. And as the saying goes, whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. So, we roll on with CES coverage to bring you another day of top level meetings and business transactions. OK, maybe it’s not that serious but it’s definitely a fun, hip, and exciting time of year for enthusiasts like us. Today, we visit CyberPower, Mushkin, and Intel to find out what’s new for 2009.”

Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows
Dragonsteel Mods :: Monday, January 19, 2009
So I have and have gotten quite a few games for the PC that are compatible with the Xbox controllers, sure I could use an aftermarket controller but I’ve tried them and they don’t seem to be truly compatible with the games, so I decided to grab something that might help me with this problem. Seeing as I have an Xbox and the controllers I figured why not get the Wireless receiver that will let me use my Xbox controllers with my PC games. Today I’ve got a short review about a little product that I picked up recently, it’s the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows and it does exactly as it’s supposed to do, it allows me to use my Xbox 360 Wireless controllers with my Windows PC games. It’s a great little product that I can easily recommend anyone getting if they wish to use their own Xbox controllers with Windows…
