CES 2009 Highlights and Photo-Report
Hot Hardware :: Tuesday, January 13, 2009
On our yearly jaunts to the Las Vegas to attend the Consumer Electronics Show, we meet with numerous companies and see a myriad of products–some we can, and some we can’t talk about–in what is always an absolute whirlwind of a trip. This year was no exception. Although the show itself wasn’t quite as big as it has been in previous years in terms of attendance, it was nevertheless loaded with cool products and technology that filled not only the Las Vegas Convention center, but multiple surrounding venues, hotels, and suites all along the strip. Come on by the site and take a look…
CES 2009 Show Floor Coverage
The Tech Zone :: Monday, January 12, 2009
“In a way, the downsized CES makes things a bit easier. It really is impossible to check all the 30 different product categories that CES has on displayed – you have to pick and choose what you’re interested in and plan from there. With camera in hand we hit the show floor to bring you some of the highlights of CES 2009.”
CES 2009 Coverage Day 4
Overclockers Club :: Monday, January 12, 2009
“So now we come to a long awaited part of CES. Everyone loves the infamous Booth Babes that are touring around the convention floors sporting off all the new products. This year there were not a lot of booth babes as there have been in previous years, however the quality makes up for the quantity. Sit back and enjoy, courtesy of your OCC 2009 CES Team.”
2009 AVN Expo Booth Babes
Tweak Town :: Monday, January 12, 2009
“This year’s CES was a bomb on several fronts. When the economy went sour the first things that got cut were the fun little extras that used to add to the shows appeal; fun things like having seven parties to choose from every night of the week, lavish hand outs from vendors and of course booth babes.
Luckily for us, there is another convention going on just across the hall from a small portion of CES. This event is one that I have never been able to attend due to time constraints and vender meetings, but this year we were able to spend more time on the show floor and that gave us the chance we needed to finally see the 2009 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo.”
NVIDIA’s Ion Small Form-Factor PC Platform
Hot Hardware :: Monday, January 12, 2009
At the Consumer Electronics Show this past week, NVIDIA was demonstrating a new reference platform for an ultra small form-factor multimedia PC and we should underscore the word “ultra”. To say this new product concept is tiny would be an understatement. Consider if you will, an entire PC, capable of decoding and playing full 1080p HD video content, in a box that fits in the palm of your hand with a 3″ x 4″ motherboard.
We met with Drew Henry, NVIDIA’s General Manager of MCP products, at CES and he gave us a tour of Ion, as well as a demonstration of its capabilities. We’ve got NVIDIA’s Ion in today’s HotHardware Video Spotlight, so we’ll let Drew do the talkin’

This year at CES we saw everything from mini laptops, all-in-one PC’s, and crazy 3D LCD displays. Let’s see if the models showing off the products this year can make you drool as much as the products! Without further ado I present the CES 2009 booth babe gallery!”

“PC enthusiasts and fast cars seem to go together nicely, so when I saw some Dodge Charger SRT-8 custom PCs at the Intel booth I instantly fell in love with them. Maybe it is the fact that I own one of DaimlerChrysler’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) models, but this is one of the sweetest looking small form factors (SFF) computers that I have seen in some time…”
CES 2009: Lunch at Pieros
Think Computers :: Sunday, January 11, 2009
“Piero’s Italian Restaurant is an excellent establish whose owner is connected to the consumer electronics industry. Thus, every year at the restaurant, which is within a mere few hundred feet of the Las Vegas Convention Center, several companies show off their new technologies. Many of the companies which display are start-ups or lesser known companies, but a few are extremely well-known.”

Think Computers :: Sunday, January 11, 2009
“I’m sure when most of you think of BFG you think of video cards. Being one of the biggest video card suppliers that is expected. Since there are no big video card announcements this year at CES BFG was not showing much, but what they were showing was very interesting. They are moving into the full custom PC market with their Phobos high performance system. It is unlike many other custom systems you can currently purchase so let’s take a look…”
CES 2009 Coverage Day 3

“Today OCC was fortunate to meet with Mushkin to take a look at some of their upcoming products. On display they had two of their new Accent series DDR3 memory kits. One of their kits, the XP3-16000 Triple Channel DDR3 kit was running in a system displaying an impressive overclock. The kit, which is comprised of 3 x 1GB modules, is rated for 2000MHz with 9-9-9-24 timings at a voltage of 1.65v. That is quite an impressive speed and with tighter timings than the JEDEC specification of 9-10-10-25. In addition the the XP3-16000 Triple Channel set, Mushkin also has a power supply and two other DDR3 Triple Channel sets, the XP3-15000 at 9-9-9-24 and an HP Series DDR3 Triple Channel kit.”
CES 2009: Corsair and MSI
Legit Reviews :: Saturday, January 10, 2009
“At the Corsair Memory hotel suite we got our first look at the highly anticipated thermoelectric (TEC) TEC cooled Corsair DOMINATOR GT DDR3 memory modules. Thermoelectric cooling uses the Peltier effect to create a heat flux between the junction of two different types of materials. One side of the Peltier cooler acts as a cold plate as the heat is transfered to the other side, which is known as the hot plate. All this is done by the flow of electrical current and it has worked very well for over a hundred years as the technology was discovered in 1834…”
CES 2009: Digital Experience
Think Computers :: Saturday, January 10, 2009

Digital Experiece is a slimmed down version of CES where vendors showing off just a few of the new products they are announcing at the show. It is a more relaxed atmosphere and really gives us, the press time to really talk to the companies. Let’s see what they have in store for us in 2009!”
