“On the back of the Digital Doc 5+ towards the left hand side, a small PCB exists for the internal header connections for the dual USB 2.0 ports and the Firewall port. Towards the center of the unit are eight power header (4 on each side) for the fan harnesses. On the inner board lies the EEPROM chip that stores the settings and the alarm buzzer that will sound when any of the settings are exceeded. Towards the right hand side of the PCB is the location of the thermal probe headers starting with header 8 located at the top. These headers connect to the eight thermal probe cables that can be placed under any heat source for temperature monitoring.”

When you think of Thermaltake, the word “performance” comes to mind. Thermaltake deals mostly with cooling your computer, and has products that branch out into other fields but remain true to the original game plan. In the past, Thermaltake created the Xaser II series of cases, which offered additional style and functionality to the original Chenming cases. Now they have released the Xaser III, which is the next step in cool cases. Is this case really a unique performance case, or did they just modify another case and sell it as their own?

“At 2X AA, the FX5200 and R9200 look about the same. But stepping up to 4X AA, the Radeon seems to have the edge. Pull them out side-by-side, and compare 12 and 6 clock positions and you will see; the Radeon smoothes out the jagged edges a bit better than the FX5200. Remember though, when it comes to such budget video cards, 4X AA isn’t really practical at all (as you will see), so the R9200 doesn’t gain much value from this.”

Albatron has done what they set out to do, and have become a major player in the videocard industry within one generation. Now that the GeForceFX is upon us we were quite excited to discover what Albatron would potentially do with their videocards to make them stand out from the rest of the pack. If we look back into history you’ll remember that nVIDIA lost some Ti4600 sales to the GeForce4 Ti4200 GPU which offered great bang for the buck. It’s a good bet that the same situation wasn’t going to be allowed to develop for the new GeForceFX’s! The differences between budget/mainstream GeForceFX 5200/5600 GPU’s and their more expensive brethern (FX5800/5900) is more then clock speed. Using less transistors (75 million for the FX5600 as oppose to 125 for the FX 5800 and 130 million for the 5900) nVIDIA is able to build a simplified core for a much lower price.”
