Xbox 360 Controller Battery Charge Kit Review

As with any NiMH battery, they do have a limited lifespan. Eventually the batteries will lose the ability to hold a full charge and then it’s time for a new one. To prolong life, simply allow the battery to almost fully deplete before placing in on the charger.

The unit does become slightly warm while charging (around 100 degrees F), but it’s hardly noticeable unless you literally wrap your hand around it. This unit will let you retire your Play N’ Charge cables for good, and now you can have constant wireless freedom.

The only problem is that the kit only includes one NiMH battery. Other companies like Nyko offer chargers for the same price, but include two batteries (the quality of which is unknown at this time). The Microsoft charger is alot more stylish and compact, and is a first-generation product, so you know the batteries are top quality.

The Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit is nearly essential to complete your next-gernation arsenal. Being unencumbered by wires of any sort is the way to go, and this accessory allows you to always have a fresh battery on standby. No more Play N’ Charge Kit cable to worry about – just one simple device.

category rating comments
Quality 5 The unit is sturdy, well constructed, and has a good balance and symmetry.
Innovation 4 Ability to charge 2 batteries at once is great for gamers. Design is well-thought, and does not get too hot when charging. Detachable cord is a nice plus when going portable.
Performance 4 It charges one battery rather quickly (if not completely drained).
Installation 5 Plug in the detachable cord and go. Batties fit snugly and notches make batteries easy to remove.
Value 3 For $30 you get the charger and one battery (battery is worth $10 alone). Two batteries would make this competitive with third-party charge kits, which offer 2 batteries for the same price.
FINAL VERDICT: 4 out of 5 stars
