So I’ve been shopping my book “The Gamer” out to publishers and several have expressed interest, then turn me down. The main reason isn’t the writing, the reason is I have no platform to speak of.
A friend of mine told me that a book last year won an award that was the equivelant to a Golden Globe and only sold 1,000 copies. That’s how pathetic this buisness is. So without a name, I’m pretty much screwed.
Anyways, After exhausting my resources for agents with email addresses, I started sending snail mail out (some agents only take snail mail submissions). I include a few articles, a proposal, a sample of the manuscript, and a folder to hold all this. One such person just sent my materials back to me. I received a rejection letter, everything else…and the folder was gone.
The F**kin literary agent pocketed my folder. Now that’s just not fair! I gotta go back to Office Depot and buy a new one? Boo.
I like how the most expensive material is not returned, but I get all my pages back. Thanks a lot agents.
I should have went to school to be an accountant.
