Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks (Carl Zeiss AF 2007 model) Review
Everything USB :: Thursday, March 27, 2008
Some webcams try to stand out with their innovative design; others introduce secondary features intended to grab your attention. Logitech went for a different approach with their pro-series webcams: as sharp as possible, as often as possible. To achieve their goal, they contracted well-known optics maker Carl Zeiss to engineer the lenses, and built a new autofocus system designed to sharpen out-of-focus images as quickly and smoothly as possible. Is the result worth choosing Logitech over competing products like the Creative Live! Cam Optia AF and the MS LifeCam VX-7000? Let’s find out.
Corinex GameNet Review
Club OC :: Wednesday, March 26, 2008
A lot of folks say that they’ve had no problems what-so-ever gaming with a wireless adapter. My personal feeling is that good old-fashioned copper still guarantees the fastest and most reliable connection. So unless you’re house is already wired with Ethernet to every room, we have to find a way to get the Internet to every device that needs it. Fortunately, there is company out there that feels our pain. Better yet, they have decided to help do something about it. Corinex brings us, the GameNet. The short story is, it’s Ethernet over Power line technology. The basics of the technology make it an alternative to using wireless protocols to network your home. When devices like this first started to make their debut, they used standard phone cords and proprietary network interface cards. With the GameNet, you’ll use RJ-45 Ethernet cables and your devices own network interface adapter to string your device to the transceivers.
Zebra P110m Card Printer REVIEWED
Bios Magazine :: Wednesday, March 26, 2008
“A dedicated card printer is a niche product, but for organisations that have a specific need they’re invaluable. The P110m is a fine example. It’s extremely well built, is a snap to use, and produces great quality results on a relatively wide choice of Zebra cards (almost every colour card is available, in addition to snazzy translucent ones). The only real downsides are that prints are in monochrome only and it can’t print on both sides of a card. Some may also have a need for lamination capability, which unfortunately the P110m doesn’t support. These features are available on other Zebra models, but of course you’re going to have to pay for the privilege.”
E-TEN Glofiish X800 Smartphone
Tweak Town :: Tuesday, March 25, 2008
“A little while ago we took a look at the Glofiish X650 from E-TEN and although it had a wide range of good features, the package as a whole had us feeling it was a bit overpriced. The reason for this is the X800, the bigger brother to the X6x0-series, as it’s not much more expensive than the X650 and still manages to add a wide range of extra functionality which we think you’d want in the first place if you’re spending this kind of cash on your Smartphone.
The main difference between the X800 and X650 is the fact that the X800 supports 3G and HSDPA data transfers. This alone makes it a much more useful device for those that need fast wireless data access on the move.”

If so, you may be interested in the Logitech Alto Express. The Alto Express is a notebook stand that raises the notebook display for increased viewing comfort and convenience.”
Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner
Bios Magazine :: Tuesday, March 25, 2008
“Epson’s Perfection V500 Photo has a lot going for it and is easily one of the best scanners in its price range. It allows a virtually instant start-up (useful for busy offices), has low power consumption, is a snap to use, and produces excellent scan results from both prints and film. The bundled software is useful, though you’ll probably use your own imaging software, and the transparency unit is excellent for amateur photographers looking to digitise their old photographs. Professional photographers will demand more, but for the general populous the Perfection V500 Photo is a winner. It’s also nice to know that you can use the scanner for office tasks, should you go for the optional ADF.”

Why You Should Never Buy An Unlocked iPhone!
Tech ARP :: Monday, March 24, 2008
“Speculations have arisen that Apple might just be using the same type of screen over and over again in newer models due to the huge amount of profits-to-losses it has gained and will continue to gain from iPhone sales. However, we do believe that they are trying their best to develop a screen which is robust enough be rid of this problem.”
Evo-G MP1 Review
XS Reviews :: Friday, March 21, 2008
“With so many different types of PC related products available, it’s not surprising that many manufacturers go a little unnoticed in certain circles. That’s why being a reviewer is interesting, as we get the latest and greatest from the big boys, and we also get to check out products from companies we’ve never heard of before. EvoG fall into this category for me, and they’ve been kind enough to send over their new MP1 mouse mat. It’s a cloth based pad with a plastic surface that should provide speedy gameplay; hopefully without a cost to accuracy. Let’s find out.”

Will NZXT’s first foray into the notebook cooling arena be met with standing ovation or bitter defeat? Read on to find out!”
SteelSeries Ikari Optical and Laser Mice
Tweak Town :: Friday, March 21, 2008
“Optical was around first; and has been since the 1980s. It’s older than most people realize, but it’s certainly come a long way. Optical sensors are in most modern mice that use LEDs to illuminate the patch of surface under the optical sensor; this creates a snap shot of the surface and gets compared to the last snap shot to determine how far the mouse has moved (if at all). Quite simply, if you increase the resolution of the optical sensor then you get greater accuracy. But this requires more powerful on-board image processor chips to do the grunt work of translating image differences into X and Y movement.
Laser Diodes came into use in 2004 for mice which were paired with sensors that have a much more enhanced resolution. This allowed the mouse to detect even more subtle changes of position, and therefore greater accuracy. ”

Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook S6410 Laptop REVIEWED
Bios Magazine :: Wednesday, March 19, 2008
“Overall the LifeBook S6410 is a solid ultra-portable laptop for business users. Its performance is average rather than leading-edge, but it’s more that up to the task of running typical business applications. The integrated Intel graphics won’t handle demanding 3D applications or games, and the fixed Webcam can make positioning a little difficult. But the display itself is sharp and clear, and the integrated 3G connectivity and 802.11n are perfect for those who need to stay connected. The only real disappointment is build quality, which could prove a problem under heavy use.”
Manfrotto 190XPROB Pro Aluminum Tripod Review
Futurelooks :: Wednesday, March 19, 2008
With all the new lens stabilization technologies out there, you would think that tripods would become obsolete. Well, clearly, that’s not the case. If you have shakey hands, you’ll get shakey pictures no matter how much vibration reduction there is. The key to getting those super sharp pictures is a steady camera and there’s no easier way to do that than with a tripod. Manfrotto, one of the leaders in tripod technology, have sent along one of their 190XPROB Pro Aluminum Tripods for us to have a look at.

Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook E8410 Laptop REVIEWED
Bios Magazine :: Tuesday, March 18, 2008
“Fujitsu Siemens’ Lifebook E8410 is a well-rounded laptop that’s perfectly suitable for business use. More raw power and multimedia niceties can be had for less financial outlay from other manufacturers, but the Lifebook E8410 shines in terms of connectivity (802.11n and 3G are a real boon) and manageability. The biggest disappointments are that the display is a little dull, and a maximum storage capacity of 160GB is restrictive – especially for those who work with large files. A maximum battery life of up to 8 hours isn’t great either, and that’s using both the standard 8-cell (5200mAh) battery and a second 6-cell (3800mAh) unit in the modular optical drive bay.”
Kingston 8GB Hyper-X Data Traveler USB Drive Review
Virtual Hideout :: Monday, March 17, 2008
“The Hyper-X 8GB Data Traveler is one good option among the droves of lesser on the market. Lapworks Attaché Laptop Stand Review
Overclockers Club :: Wednesday, March 12, 2008
“The second factor that I want to look at is the comfort and ergonomic factor that Lapworks talked about. After using the stand in several of the different positions offered, I can honestly say that it was slightly more comfortable typing on and also more comfortable looking at whatever I was working on. The added tilt to my MacBook Pro’s keyboard felt very nice and made it feel easier to type on. “The CoolJag Mini LED Flash fans are a great concept and look great with your custom message. The fans are made with a sturdy clear plastic, which makes them nearly invisible inside of your case – all you are able to see is the message with the brilliant blue border. The downfall of these fans, is the fact that they are unable to cool the system components as well as the stock fans that came with the ThermalTake Armor Extreme Edition. This is only a downfall if you are very concerned with the temperatures inside of your case, which most of us overclockers are.”

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 Review
Hardware Logic :: Saturday, March 08, 2008
“To commemorate their 25th anniversary, Microsoft Hardware is turning full circle back to where it all began and unleashing a bevy of new mice into the peripheral marketplace. Today HardwareLogic gets hands-on with the Microsoft Laser Wireless Mouse 6000 (we’ll be looking at the 7000 in the coming weeks). As the name implies, the 6000 sports a 2.4GHz wireless connection while adding a snap-in receiver, ergonomic right-handed design, High Definition Laser Technology, and other goodies culminating from 25 years experience. But unlike the 1980s, high tech rodents now litter the peripheral landscape. Can the 6000 hang with the best today has to offer?”

Nokia E90 Communicator
BIOS Magazine :: Friday, March 07, 2008

Razer Lycosa Gaming Keyboard Review
OCIA :: Friday, March 07, 2008
“In terms of aesthetics, the Lycosa is certainly an attention-grabber. The top surface has a sleek, glossy finish, almost like a piano. The buttons are finished with a non-slip, rubber finish that contrasts the glossy surface really well. The wrist rest appears to be regular black plastic, with the Razer logo in the center. I really like how the keys aren’t fully visible when the back light is off, producing a nice stealth effect.”
Razer Krait Mouse
Digit Life :: Friday, March 07, 2008
“Today we’ll test the Krait mouse for RTS & MMORPG games. It’s designed specially for the “click’em all” style. The brightest representative of such games is Diablo and its clones, which are not mentioned among the target applications for some reason. A description of this mouse focuses on the buttons, which can process many actions per second (up to 20) and are designed to be pressed as easy and fast as it’s physically possible.”

OCZ Rally2 Turbo 8GB Flash Drive Review
OCIA :: Tuesday, March 04, 2008
“There are so many thumb drives out there, some fast and some slow, some high capacity and some smaller than a quarter, that it’s really easy to brush them aside and think that those differences don’t really matter. OCZ wants to discourage this kind of a mentality and it shows from their diverse lineup of USB flash drives, from durable to speedy to high capacity. Today we’re going to have a look at the OCZ Rally2 Turbo 8GB USB flash drive, which promises to provide impressive speeds (up to 35MB/s read) while maintaining high capacity (available in 4GB and 8GB modules).”

Super Mini Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR USB Adapter Reviewed
Dragonsteel Mods :: Sunday, March 02, 2008
” Today for review I’ve got what is probably the world’s smallest Bluetooth USB adapter, it’s not much bigger than a dime, and that’s only because of the USB part of it, the actual Bluetooth chip is a fraction of the overall size. It’s called the Super Mini Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR USB Adapter, but don’t let it’s diminutive size fool you, it’s fully loaded, being Bluetooth v2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate it allows for longer range and faster file transfers.”

Zalman ZM-MFC2 Multi Fan Controller Review
Frosty Tech :: Saturday, March 01, 2008
“Zalman introduced its ZM-MFC2 multi fan speed controller last year at CES, and the reason we’re reviewing it today are three-fold. For starters, the Zalman ZM-MFC2 digitally monitors four fans to +/- 10RPM and displays that data in real time on a nice multi-coloured backlit LCD display. With it, you can set any speed from 60RPM to the maximum supported by the fan with a turn of the dial, for three 3-pin fans and one PWM fan.”
Kingston 4GB DataTraveler Mini & Mini Fun Reviews
Hardware Logic :: Saturday, March 01, 2008
“We have seen our fair share of USB flash drives come through our lab and progressively with each one, they get faster, smaller and hold more data. Its up to companies like Kingston to put out products that give us choices when we are in the market for a flash drive. Whether you are a network administrator that needs to conduct system maintenance or a high school student who wants to carry around files to share with friends, everyone has a need for portable storage.
