iBuyPower Gamer Paladin F880 Review
Hardware Logic :: Tuesday, May 26, 2009
“iBuyPower offers a a boatload of baseline configurations ready to be customized, and the one we’re looking at today is the new Paladin Gamer F880. Built around Intel’s Core i7 platform and armed with a Blu-ray drive and various multimedia accouterments, the Paladin has the potential to be an all-around performer, at least on paper. Toss in Zalman’s recently released GS1000 full-tower enclosure and the Paladin has our attention. Can it keep it?”
ASUS VH236 LCD Monitor
Phoronix :: Thursday, May 21, 2009
“Over the years we have looked at many ASUS products primarily with when it comes to graphics cards and motherboards, but never had we got our hands on an ASUS LCD monitor. However, that changed earlier this month when receiving the ASUS VH236 LCD monitor. This 23-inch widescreenmonitor from ASUS has a native resolution of 1920 x 1200, a 2ms GTG response time, ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio Technology, ASUS Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, and a dual 2W speaker system. This ASUS display may not be as nice as the Samsung SyncMaster 305T but it does offer more features than some of the other monitors in its class like the Dell S2409W. Continue on as we test out the ASUS VH236 LCD monitor.”

NZXT Zero 2 Crafted Series PC Case
Dragonsteel Mods :: Saturday, May 16, 2009
Today we will be looking at the first of three PC cases from NZXT. Their original Zero case was well received as it was designed for quiet cooling and performance. The follow up to this acclaimed case is the aptly named Zero 2 which is designed for the home enthusiast and gamer in mind. Unlike its predecessor which was made of relatively light aluminum, the Zero 2 is 10.2 KG of hardened steel. It has plenty of room for expansion as it features thirteen drive bays in total. Cooling is the main theme as the Zero 2 can accommodate eight fans in total with two included in the bundle. A 500 Watt PSU is optional, but in this day and age 50 Watts may not always be enough. So lets take a closer look at the Zero 2 and see if it measures up to its predecessor.

The benefit of overclocking gave them the extra performance they needed and postponed the need to upgrade to a faster system.

Do YOU Really Know What’s Inside Your Computer?
Tech ARP :: Sunday, May 03, 2009
Meet Huang Jing. She is a young Chinese lady who discovered that her laptop was using an Intel engineering sample CPU. She sued the manufacturer, ASUS for “defamation, selling defective products, and false accusation”. She also claimed that Intel not only knew about the misuse of engineering samples by their partners, but also helped or allowed them to do so.
Although her claims of Intel’s complicity are so far unsubstantiated, the practice of illegally repackaging tray processors or misusing engineering samples is widespread. Do YOU know what’s really inside your computer? Are you sure you are even using an Intel processor, much less a genuine one? Read on and find out why this is important to you as a consumer, and how you can avoid buying fake Intel processors.

Gigabyte Open Overclocking Competition 2009
Hot Hardware :: Saturday, May 02, 2009
While most computer enthusiasts overclock their systems to get increased performance from their components, there are a select few that push the limits of hardware to another level for the entertainment factor alone. Instead of just trying to get higher frame rates for gaming or better throughput for other types of workloads, these extreme enthusiasts run a series of benchmarks to see who can achieve the highest score or finish with the fastest time. Professional overclockers throughout North America often participate in ongoing competitions online to see how fast they can run their processors and graphics cards for bragging rights and geek glory. In this world, operating voltages are raised to insane levels and stability means being able to submit results before the system crashes. You can think of it as PC drag racing in a sense. And for the same reasons that drag racing draws spectators, extreme overclocking has steadily grown in popularity through the years. Some manufacturers are even designing parts made specifically for this exclusive crowd. Whether it be processors, motherboard, memory, power supplies, or video cards, the extreme enthusiast scene is evolving.
For the second year in a row, Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry, California was host to the Gigabyte Open Overclocking Championship North American Final. On Saturday April 25th, 2009, Gigabyte flew in the best of the best among the extreme overclocking scene to find out who would represent North America in the World Championships being held in Taipei, Taiwan on June 3rd…
