Repair specialist refuses to take further Xbox 360 consoles
Xbox-Scene :: Friday, June 29, 2007
From gamesindustry.biz (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=26211 ): [QUOTE] UK-based repairs specialist Micromart has told GamesIndustry.biz that it has had to refuse to service Xbox 360 consoles that display three red lights, dubbed the Red Ring of Death. “We were seeing about 30 a week before we pulled the plug on the service,” said Jeff Croft of Micromart. “We saw it over a period of several months and it was just getting worse. It began towards the end of last year. Once the twelve month warranty finished then we started to see more and more machines being sent in to be looked at. Micromart acts for individual retailers who send customer’s goods to the specialist. Croft says his company pulled the service after discovering problems with the motherboard, and that that repairing the console wasn’t financially feasible. Even after working on a number of machines, the company didn’t feel comfortable with the end result. Croft said the company had written to Microsoft to inform it of the problems encountered but had received no reply. Warner Bro’s Total HD Format Delayed To 2008
Xbox-Scene :: Friday, June 29, 2007
From ign.com (http://gear.ign.com/articles/800/800477p1.html ): [QUOTE] Way back in January, shortly before CES, Warner Brothers announced it would premier a new disc technology for next-gen DVD players that would press HD-DVD material on one side and Blu-ray data on the other. The unique combo format, dubbed Total HD, was planned as a means of mitigating consumer fear in choosing one warring format over the other. The first titles on the new format were scheduled to begin appearing at retail this month. Warner Brothers has now announced that its Total HD discs will in fact not be making an appearance in 2007 at all. No details were provided as to why the delay was necessitated, though Warner is now apparently aiming for a launch in early 2008. Sam and Max (Season 1) Review
Gaming Heaven :: Thursday, June 28, 2007
Sam and Max: Hit the Road holds a special place in every adventurer’s heart. How could it not? Created by Steve Purcell, the dynamic duo’s insane adventure across the US of A was filled with black humour, out of this world puzzle solutions and some of the best conversations this side of an asylum’s walls. Considering the success the game had it took a surprisingly long time before a sequel was announced, let alone released. After a few years of uncertainty and publisher juggling the detective dog and manic rabbit pair finally saw the light of day in the form of Episode 1 of the 6 part Season 1 story arc. The series was originally exclusive to the online service GameTap and was recently added to Steam and will soon be available in stores as well. Because of that we decided to see what Season 1 can offer as a full-priced game.

Lost Planet Extreme Condition PC
Gamepyre :: Thursday, June 28, 2007
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for the PC is most definitely worth a look, even if you’ve already played the Xbox360 version. Capcom chose the right game to port over to DirectX10 to get the DX10 games rolling, and chose one that will hopefully keep gamers going until the next DX10 games release here in the next few months. This is leaps and bounds better than the Halo 2 port that requires Windows Vista, but doesn’t even take advantage of DX10 at all. The demo is available on Steam and many other places on the internet, but I don’t feel it really does the game justice. For the $40 price tag, this game is probably the best value for your money you’re going to get as a shooter fan. Sure, this game isn’t realistic like other shooters, but does every game now have to try to obey the exact laws of physics or reality in order to be fun?
