How Michael Jackson Affects OCMS

by Alan McCloskeyJune 26, 2009August 25, 2014145

I’m working on publishing some new articles, and to do that I have to go to other sites for resources… but some of them are timing out.

Sites like PriceGrabber and Tweaknews are not loading at all, even though their webmasters tell me they are up.  Facebook is up, but is flakey.  I do a tracert and it completely times out when the traffic gets to LA.  Sites like Gamespress work just fine, and their tracert does not go through LA…

It appears that LA is totally SWAMPED with Michael Jackson traffic, and any traffic that gets routed through there can be lost.

I thought the whole thing about ARPANET (now called the Internet) was that it was supposed to work even in a nuclear holocaust because there are so many ways to route traffic.

I’m not sure if this affects anyone getting to OCMS or her sister sites, though.  I guess I just have to wait…

Apparently the internet record for most traffic was broken yesterday when MJ was pronounced dead. Higher than when Obama was announced President. Ri-donk-ulous.
