PAX10 Cosplay Gallery
Thursday, September 09, 2010
Gamers have an unusual amount of pride in their creations, and many of these costumes are rather ellaborate. It is also interesting to see a fictional character that is typically on a 2-dimentional screen brought to life in the “real” (although seriously distorted) world.

What PAX lacks in booth babes it certainly makes up for with cosplay. There were several elaborate costumes, and some of the sexiest Babes at PAX (see our PAX10 Babe Gallery here) were in costume. Most (if not all) of the cosplayers were begging for attention, and I was never refused an offer to take their picture for publication.

The Babes of PAX 2010
Wednesday, September 08, 2010
Convention vendors usually try to attract attention with gorgeous Booth Babes. This marketing strategy is very effective, but it seems that over the past few years there have been less over-the-top (or practically topless) babes at many of the PAX booths. After commenting on this one year, one of the offiicals stated that they discourage overtly sexual tactics such as this.

This in no way means that the lady fans don’t dress up. What better way to snag a nerd’s attention than to not only be scantily clad, but bring a sexy gaming character to life? You can see the PAX10 Cosplay Galleryright here, but here are some girls that were just too cute not to be noticed. Once again, OCmodshop.com presents to you the 2010 Babes of PAX!

How to Become a Video Games Journalist
Monday, September 06, 2010
Have you ever thought about having a career in the video games industry? Some might think that it’s all glamorous, but the panelists at PAX10’s Movin’ on Up: How to Make It (Or Not) in Videogames Journalism will tell you that it’s a lot of work, with a little bit of luck mixed in. Many of the panelists have worked in the industry for years and had to start at the ground level, sometimes working for free.

The panelists have been in the gaming industry for years, and are either journalists or PR reps in the gaming industry. Those dispensing their advice are:

* Arne Meyer from Naughty Dog * John Ricciardi from S-4 * John Drake of Harmonix Music Systems * Chris Koeler from Wired.com

Wil Wheaton Awesome Hour @ PAX 2010
Monday, September 06, 2010
Wil Wheaton once again talks with the folks at the Seattle PAX. Wil talks about gaming, how much he sucks at Scrabble, and not being a dick. There’s a great Q&A where Evil Wil Wheaton explains why he broke up Leonard and Penny.

This video is presented in its entirety without any breaks for your viewing pleasure.

Patriot Memory Box Office Video Player
Monday, September 06, 2010
While strolling through the PAX 2010 show floor, I came upon a row of vendors that will be very familiar to the faithful readers of OCmodshop: namely Zalman, InWin, Cooler Master, Kingston, and Patriot Memory. Patriot has been known for their DDR memory and flash storage devices , and it appears they are branching out into multimedia appliances as well.

Mary Phuong showed me to a small kiosk that was demoing their new Box Office product, which is a multimedia appliance that can not only stream just about any kind of media over the network, but import and play DVDs, Bluray, and just about anything under the sun. It also has all of the connections to hook up to just about any display, from legacy TV sets to state-of-the-art HDMI OLED displays.

Duke Nukem Forever Revealed at PAX 2010!
Sunday, September 05, 2010
Duke Nukem has been picked up by Gearbox software and is scheduled to be released in 2011. No, seriously. People are playing the demo right now. No announcement or press release was given to the media prior to PAX 2010. Everyone just walked the show floor and saw the immediately recognizable Duke on the side of a booth. You could practically feel the collective “WTF? Is this for reals?”. Below is the story on how Duke was revived, and is now one of the most hotly-anticipated games for next year.
