A little while ago, ThinkComputers reviewed the Zalman ZM500-HP 500W power supply unit. This time around, Zalman, maker of fine cooling products and power supplies, submitted for review a more powerful, but louder version of its line of power supply units, the ZM850-HP 850W. This 80PLUS-certified unit has lots of connectivity with its modular design, and two heatpipes and an ultra-quiet fan keep the unit virtually silent. The review is here.

“Well, I must say I quite like the Thermaltake BlacX Hard Drive Docking Station. Transfer speeds were the same or better than the two traditional style enclosures that it was compared to. The ability to hot swap not only 3.5″ hard drives, but 2.5″ notebook drives as well, makes this unit a must-have for a computer enthusiast. Most enclosures are built for a certain size drive and take some work swapping them out, but with the Thermaltake BlacX, you just push the eject button and place a new drive into the docking station. This is especially good for transferring files from an old drive to an upgraded one with ease. One thing I liked is the fact that there are no fans, meaning it is very quiet when in use.”

In the end the CoolIT PURE is not for everyone. Anyone who thinks just because a CPU cooling solution is water based means that “monster overclocks” are around the corner will be disappointed with it. However, anyone who wants to a very quiet, well mannered cooling system will be more than pleased with the PURE’s cooling capabilities, even if you intend on using a hot running quad core CPU.

Over the past year, we’ve had the pleasure of reviewing all sorts of DDR3 memory. Our opinion was has been generally favorable for the memory and negative about the price. Now we have an odd situation. Patriot Memory has just sent us the fastest, default memory speed that we’ve every tested here at the Club and it comes with the cheapest price of any of the other DDR3 kits we’ve reviewed. I’m still trying to find out what the catch is. Before I wake up or Patriot emails me that the price was a mistake, Let’s go take a look at some DDR3 that is running a default speed of 933Mhz (1866DDR).

Thermaltake (http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/) is one of them. They've been around for quite a while and have a large selection of PC cases that will fit any budget or type of system build. My experience with their products has always been a good one, and they are a company that is constantly improving their products for the better. Today for review I've got the Thermaltake M9 ATX case, it's a mid-tower style case that is sort of a basic case but offers some nice features and looks good as well. Aesthetically the M9 is very pleasing with an almost solid black exterior, nice contour lines and an overall sense of style to it. When powered on the blue LEDs of the included fans make a nice contrast with the black and make for a very nice presentation, its also quiet and does a decent job of keeping your system cool.
