Tomb Raider Underworld Preview
YouGamers :: Tuesday, February 05, 2008
“Particular focus was made of the new Lara Croft model – nothing radical, but more “natural” looking than previous renditions. The range of preset moves and animations has grown (for example, moving Lara through vegetation will force her to brush branches and leaves out of the way) but the level of interaction with the environment has improved too. In the past, contact with water would simply result in a visual reaction and although that still happens, wet surfaces and objects now behave differently to dry ones. Previously Lara would be able to climb all objects with equal ease, but this is no longer the case in Underworld.”

Turok (Xbox 360 and Playstation 3)
Driver Heaven :: Tuesday, February 05, 2008
With 2007 now over and a raft of high quality first person shooters in our wake (Halo 3, Bioshock, Crysis, Call Of Duty 4), it is going to take something special to grab our attention in 2008. With this in mind I was pleased to receive a copy of Turok for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. So do we start off 2008 with a bang, or merely a whimper?

Nights: Journey Of Dreams (Wii)
Driver Heaven :: Tuesday, February 05, 2008
Nights is a game about the world of dreams, a fantastic far away land you journey to while asleep. It is in fact your dreams that create this world, giving you, the player a choice of seperate sets of missions at the beginning of the game, what options have we then ? mmmm, so……….. “are you a dude or a chick?” the game asks. Yawns. You either choose Helen or Will. Immediately we are presented with “Nights” a non gender specific jester, who sounds extremely like my overtly camp hair stylist. Apparently Nights is a character you can merge with, and he allows you to harness his powers to fly around the land. Before we progress any further, can I just say, this guy has to be one of the ugliest in game characters I have ever had the misfortune to meet. He was most certainly beat with the ugly stick during birth.

Wireless Multimedia Flexible Keyboard Review
Dragonsteel Mods :: Tuesday, February 05, 2008
“Flexible keyboards have become very popular, even being featured in big budget movies, so it’s no surprise that there seems to suddenly be an abundance of them floating around everywhere now because of their co-starring role in Die Hard. Most you’ll see are the corded kind, but today I’ve got the cordless version for review, called the Wireless Multimedia Flexible Keyboard, and it’s essentially the same as the corded version, but I was curious as to how it performs compared to other wireless keyboards. So read on to check it out and see what I learned… ”

Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom (Xbox 360)
Driver Heaven :: Monday, February 04, 2008
Kingdom Under Fire as a series has always been founded on strong strategy elements as well as including spellcasting and levelling, just like you would find in a plethora of other RPG’s. The series was recently revitalised with Crusaders on the Xbox in 2004, which was a great game. Circle of Doom is a bold move for the developers at Blue Side, as the game is basically ditching a lot of the strategy elements and replacing them with a pure action role playing experience. Is the game any good however, or is it just another stagnant limpfisted action based hack n slash?

Daze Products Nintendo DS Game Chamber Review
Big Bruin :: Monday, February 04, 2008
It is frustrating to spend $30 to $50 on a Nintendo DS game only to have it lost or damaged. A simple container to hold games securely and only allow one game out at a time is a great option! For a relatively small price you can potentially save yourself a good deal of money and avoid plenty of headaches with the Daze Products Nintendo DS Game Chamber.

Pirates of the Burning Sea Review
YouGamers :: Monday, February 04, 2008
“For those of us who enjoy economic warfare more than sinking ships, or just take heart to the Rules of Acquisition (specifically the one that says “War is good for business”), I’m happy to report that there is a solid economics sub-game in Pirates of the Burning Sea. Making replacements for all those sunken ships and associated bits is a complex affair. One structure is used to harvest trees for wood, another turns the wood to ship components (with nails, made from iron bars, made from iron ore). In addition to wooden parts, you need sails, brass, provisions, rigging, gunpowder, barrels… the list of finished goods required as components for ships just goes on and on, and in practice you need the cooperation eight to ten players to set up a self-sustaining manufacturing operation for larger ships – any less, and you have to buy some of the bits from other players.”

No More Heroes (Wii)
Driver Heaven :: Monday, February 04, 2008
Suda-51 have made some fantastic games in the past, hopefully some of you will remember Killer 7 which was one of my favourite games of 2005. No More Heroes is a game dripping with dark humour while maintaining the same high levels of art design, so it is sure to appeal to fans of the previous title. However, many of you who didn’t like Killer 7 for the plodding and repetitive action should find No More Heroes a more appealing game experience as it features some marvellous fight scripting with an insanely high level of gore. No More Heroes is a game experience quite unlike any I have enjoyed before, especially considering the platform is the “family friendly” Wii.

Ghost Squad (Wii)
Gaming Heaven :: Monday, February 04, 2008
Are you a lover of American high octane, gun totting, silly one liner movies? If so then Ghost Squad on the Wii might just tickle your fancy. It is a light hearted, tongue in cheek shooter with no pretences of bringing anything new to the table. For those of you who have no idea what “Ghost Squad” is all about, Sega has taken the 2004 arcade release and brought it onto the Wii entirely as it was albeit with some extras and Wii specific control adjustments.

Railway Simulator (PC)
Driver Heaven :: Monday, February 04, 2008
Picture a field in your mind and scale the size of it according to these phrases. Number of PC gamers in the world… BIG… number of PC gamers who love simulation titles… quite big… number of PC gamers who love trains… getting smaller… number of PC gamers who love simulation titles about trains. Okay, you get the general idea – it’s a small market but one that’s certainly worth a publisher having a go at. Microsoft thought so too, and seven years ago they commissioned UK-based Kuju Entertainment to produce their first Train Simulator game. They had planned a sequel but things went wrong for Kuju for a while, forcing the cancellation of the deal. However, the plucky developers soon got back on track (groan) and ploughed full steam ahead (even worse) with their own Rail Simulator – “an authentic railway experience.”
