Zalman VF900-CU Videocard Heatpipe GPU Cooler Review
Tweaknews :: Thursday, March 23, 2006
“Zalman has a real winner in the VF900-Cu. It brings it all to the table, with its excellent performance, quiet operation and ease of installation. The fit and finish is outstanding and it weighs less than the stock solution that came with my card. As the VF900-Cu is still new to the marketplace, its availability and price point can’t be ascertained with any degree of reliability at this time. At $50, this is not a cheap cooling system, but its performance goes a long way toward making the VF900-Cu a good value.”

MSI’s K8N Diamond Plus motherboard
The Tech Report :: Thursday, March 23, 2006
SEEMINGLY CONTENT TO MAKE DO with the original nForce4 SLI, motherboard manufacturers have been slow to adopt NVIDIA’s nForce4 SLI X16 chipset. For months, Asus’ A8N32-SLI was the only Socket 939 motherboard capable of feeding 16 lanes of PCI Express to each of a pair of graphics cards in SLI, giving enthusiasts seeking gobs of graphics bandwidth few options. Fortunately, that’s starting to change. Mobo makers appear to be warming to the X16 chipset, and MSI is the latest to take the plunge with the K8N Diamond Plus.

Like most enthusiast boards, the K8N Diamond Plus comes loaded with features, including dual Gigabit Ethernet options, two flavors of Serial ATA RAID, and a BIOS filled with tweaking, overclocking, and even fan speed controls. MSI has also fitted the board with a Sound Blaster Audigy chip that promises support for EAX Advanced HD and better audio quality than typical motherboard audio implementations.

Is the K8N Diamond Plus’ integrated Audigy audio really all that, and more importantly, can the board keep up with the latest nForce4 SLI, X16, and even CrossFire boards on the market? Let’s find out.

Epson PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition Review

Professional small-format photos the easy way, with a compact portable photo printer roughly the same size as a loaf of bread and engineered like a nuclear powered toaster! It makes digital photography easy and fun for all the family, even the Windows print driver is comparatively simple. This is practically the swan-song for the once lucrative but frustrating and time consuming commercial photo processing market. The PictureMate 500 is marketed as a printing accessory for any digital camera, it supports direct printing from PictBridge cameras, popular digital camera technologies and a computer is optional for most printing tasks, however it can not execute complex manipulations, such as red eye reduction.

Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Quad Royal (nForce4 SLI Intel Edition)
Hardware Zoom :: Thursday, March 23, 2006

The BIOS menu offers very comprehensive tweaking options that will satisfy the needs of hardcore overclockers. The board also features Gigabyte CIA2 and MIB2 to save the hassle to overclock the system manually. Performance wise, we were suprised that the Quad Royal can out-perform the Intel’s flagship i975 chipset.

With 7 fans connectors, HSF on both north/south bridge, and plenty of clearance around CPU area, cooling should never be a problem even to hardcore overclockers. Gigabyte also bundle the board with PowerDVD, Norton Internet Security and Bluetooth USB dongle to make the package even more attractive.

Intel’s Pentium Extreme Edition 965 processor
The Tech Report :: Thursday, March 23, 2006
Before you nod off to sleep and plant your face in the keyboard, realize that this CPU is actually a pair of chips wound up to 3.73GHz and, well, that’s a lot and stuff. Perhaps more importantly, thanks to refinements to its 65-nanometer manufacturing process, Intel has found a way to crank up the clock frequency while dialing back the heat on this double-barreled blowtorch of death. In fact, it’s more like a blowtorch of pain now, with power consumption actually reduced from the Pentium Extreme Edition 955 we reviewed a few months back, despite the 965’s increased clock speed.

The result could be that this CPU based on a lame-duck microarchitecture manages to do something few Pentiums have done in recent times: catch up with the competition from AMD in terms of performance and power use. And if that doesn’t work, we can always try turning up the clock speed to 4.53GHz, right? Let’s have a look at what Intel’s new fastest processor has to offer.
