A small handful of companies manufacture bare 19″ rackmount chassis, and for the purposes of this review PCSTATS will be examining iStar’s offering, the D-Storm D300. The iStar D-Storm D300 is a 20.8″ deep 3U steel chassis that will accommodate a standard ATX2.0 motherboard, up to four 3.5″ hard drives, and four 5.25″ devices. The D-Storm D300 features two lockable vented aluminum swing-out doors that protect the drive bays from unauthorized user access (with integral dust filters no less) and two 60mm exhaust fans at the rear for maintaining reasonable internal case temperatures.”

We have not seen that many new products from Enermax this year. Today we will be looking at one of their newest offerings the Chakra. The Chakra is a mid-tower case that has one of the biggest fans I have ever seen on a PC case. It also features an eSATA port, which we have been seeing a lot of lately. Although the case has an extremely large fan and its design seems “basic” it really impressed me and is very quiet.”

“Performance-wise, the mPC performed nicely, on par with the Soltek SFF. Reliability was never an issue and still is not as it had graduated from test PC to my main day-to-day workstation. Cooling is decent, with the CPU hovering at 63°C. Sure, it’s still warm, but not as hot as one may think considering the X800 sitting right next to it. The system is quiet when doing mild mannered chores such as typing or surfing, but the fans do spin up considerably under load.”
