Today we will be looking at a nifty little device very useful to PC builders and hardware enthusiasts. The Antec 12V PSU Tester is a straightforward tool that tests your 12V ATX power supplies for any incorrect voltages of the rails. It means you no longer have the bother of using voltmeters and such to do tests. Just plug in the power supply adapters into the 20 or 24-pin connector and the LED will verify it. Green for normal, yellow for not enough voltage and Red for too much voltage.

We have been reviewing several of ASUS high-end motherboards the last few months (ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium, ASUS P5W64WS Professional Motherboard, ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition). ASUS however also have cheaper and simpler motherboards in the line-up.
Today I am testing the ASUS P5B-E, an Intel965 based motherboard which might not come with all the bells and whistles of the nForce 590 or the i975 chipset but which still offers a lot of functionality for its price.

This is a great board for those seeking a workstation class motherboard that has multiple-monitor support. Stability and options are the P5W64 WS Pro’s stand-out features. The lack of any PCI-X slots for 32-Bit SCSI may be daunting to those wanting to do video editing, but with SATA 2 at only a bit slower than the ultimate SCSI transfer rates available it’s not much of a sacrifice. Not the fastest ship in the ASUS fleet, but it does have many things to attract a variety of users.

Throughout the extensive overclocking and testing of these modules, I could not come up with anything to complain about. They look great, they perform as they should, and they have plenty of overclocking headroom for the enthusiasts out there. Again, without a retail price anywhere it is hard to give a very concrete judgment but something tells me that these modules should be a part of anyone’s buying decision if you’re in the market for a 1GB memory kit. I can hardly wait to get my hands on a 2GB kit of some hot FireStix.

Two 16x PCI express Slots, four DDR2-800 Slots up to 8 GB memory, six S-ATA II ports, ten USB 2.0 ports, two 1 Gigabit LAN connectors and wonderful OC features is not my list of wishes for Christmas, but rather the excellent equipment of the new Foxconn C51XEM2AA-8EKRS2H Socket AM2 motherboard. Without anticipating the result, this Socket AM2 board is a dream for overclocker, because this mainboard has as many OC options, that it would be possible to write dozens of OC guides. And overclocking an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ processor to 3000 MHz is really nice … ;)
