Five of the eight flaws were rated as critical, according to Firefox. A critical rating means a Firefox user would be vulnerable to attack and remote software installation on their machines just from browsing the Web in the usual fashion. Two of the flaws were rated as high, while one received a low security-risk rating, Firefox said.

The study was conducted on behalf of the U.K. Office of Science and Innovation’s Horizon Scanning Center by research firm Ipsos-MORI; Outsights, a consultancy; and the United States’ Institute for the Future, according to the AP. The research was performed to discover issues with “potentially significant impact or opportunity” 50 years in the future, the AP reports.

AMD HAS BEEN PROMISING for some time to deliver chips made on its 65nm fabrication process by the end of 2006. The year’s end is perilously close, but a small package arrived at Damage Labs last week bearing evidence of AMD’s success: a pair of 65nm Athlon 64 X2 processors. Looks like they’ve just made it in under the wire. In fact, Athlon 64 X2 processors built in this 65nm process are filtering out into the market now.
Process shrinks often bring with them some nice benefits, because smaller chips tend to require less voltage, consume less power, and generate less heat. They also sometimes allow more headroom for clock frequency increases. The question is: how is AMD doing on these fronts? What benefits does its 65nm process bring to the Athlon 64 X2? Let’s have a look.

Well Noctua is at it again with a different cooler. This time however it is for your north bridge and not your processor. The NC-U6 looks like a miniature version of the NH-U12F CPU cooler. Sporting a high towering structure, the NC-U6 is bound to take the heat off your chipset. Consisting of twenty-nine aluminum fins and two copper heat pipes will look good doing it. This in turn will aid in a few more megahertz on that new CPU.
