Andreas has namely published his first result in the Percentual Overclocking category and has submitted the second best result in the history of the competition, namely a 178% overclock. Just as last year it’s a 1.5GHz Celeron Mobile which is the heart of the system and with a final frequency at 4.17GHz it’s a very impressive achievement.

“I was quite impressed with the quality of heat sinks that Cooler Master used in this supply. Upon inspection, they appear to be pieces of Aluminium T-channel that has been cut to act as heat sinks for the SCRs (Silicon Control Rectifiers). These SCRs can get quite hot, and will burn out if not sufficiently cooled. Good cooling is a must in any power supply. The large 135mm fan helps too.”

I think the price is a bit high, even for what you get, but you know if there’s only a couple things you should spend the extra money on it’s the power supply and the motherboard to base the rest of your high powered gaming system off. Sure you can pick up a competitors new 680i SLI motherboard for a lot less money, but you won’t get the ASUS exclusive features like the on-boards LED’s, the Q-Connector, the LCD Poster, the EL back plate, the silent copper heatpipe cooling solution and 8-Phase power design among others.

The abit IL9 Pro is an interesting mix of a board. The board is not an enthusiast board but is available on Newegg for under $85, matching or lower than the price of some available 945P boards. The IL9 Pro is a good choice for those wanting an inexpensive Crossfire solution, as this board is one of the few 945 boards that support Crossfire, albeit at a x16, x4 configuration.

The abit SG-95 is a mATX board which targets budget segments. It features SiS 622 and 966L chipsets. One of those no-frill motherboards is the IL9 Pro. This is a motherboard based on the older but newly improved Intel 945 chipset, now labeled 945P. All boards offer support for Intel’s current beast, the Core2 Duo and up to four gigs of ram. If you take into account just these two features, the board has room for upgradeability if you choose not to go the Conroe route just yet. Another advantage this board holds is that it is priced right for the budget minded person.

Similar to the Case Modding competition back in 2004 that our Mods sorted out, what we want to see is modded “areas” this time where your PC is currently perched. Area meaning Sorrounding walls/Desk space/Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse etc (use your imagination) The more festive the better obvoisly, BUT and this is a big BUT, it doesnt have to be festive it can be themed to anything you want! Apevia is the new company name of Aspire. The Apevia X-Cruiser sports three gauges with blue light as well as a window for a small price tag. While the inside is quite simple and does not feature anything out of the ordinary, the outside look of the case did bring a smile to our face, especially considering the price tag and multiple color choices available.

MSI’S SMALL FORM FACTOR SYSTEMS have traditionally been tardy, arriving to market a little too late in the life of the chipsets and sockets they sport. That tendency toward more dated hardware has been made even more apparent by other makers of barebones SFF systems, who have aggressively adopted newer sockets and core logic. Fortunately, MSI’s new mPC 51PV is coming to market in a much timelier manner.
The mPC 51PV is compatible with AMD’s Socket AM2 processors and features an Nvidia GeForce 6150/nForce 430 core logic combo that’s still the best integrated graphics chipset on the market. The system also has a PCI Express x16 slot and enough room to house a dual-slot graphics card, so you’re not stuck with integrated graphics. Combine that with a PCI slot, Mini PCI Wi-Fi, and loads of audio and video output options, and the mPC 51PV starts to look just like what the stagnating small form factor market needs.
Squeezing everything into a smaller form factor isn’t easy, though, and MSI has made a few concessions along the way. Read on to see how those concessions affect the mPC’s appeal and whether the system can breathe new life into the small form factor barebones world.

I don’t have much anything negative to say about the G9657MA-8KS2H and how could I? The specifications and feature list is as long as a full size motherboard, the performance seems to be on par with its older brother the P965x chipset as well as the 975x chipset, and the price is something that will not hurt many people. The G9657MA-8KS2H is almost like a full sized motherboard squeezed into a m-ATX form factor complete with the m-ATX price tag.
