The Cooler Master NotePal P1 does do one thing quiet well, and that is create a very comfortable, ergonomic typing angle. I found it to be much more relaxing to type with the NotePal P1 in place, and could go much longer without feeling like I had to take a break… The problem is that its primary function is to cool, and it leaves something to be desired in that department.

The first foray into the Intel 965 world has left me with a few very good positives. First, performance seems to have increased over earlier chipsets, due to the new memory controller. Second plus of the new chipset is the new South Bridge, the ICH8R. GIGABYTE decided to take the chipset and make a good board out if it. There are a variety of boards being offered by GIGABYTE using this and the new G965 (with integrated video) chipset.

The number one threat to YouTube has always been the possibility that they will be sued out of existence because of users uploading copyrighted videos. The theory is YouTube hasn’t been sued yet because they have no money. However, if a buyer with a big bank account comes along, watch the lawsuits fly. This argument doesn’t hold much water. Google has tons of copyrighted materials on Google Video. Google has tons of cash. Where are the lawsuits?

“To get the IHS off we used four razor blades and placed two under opposite corners to apply force on the IHS. We then got out the Craftsmen propane torch and fired it up. After the CPU was cleaned we used four layers of electrical tape on each side of the core to prevent cracking the die and removed the load plate off our abit AW9D-MAX motherboard so the water block would make contact with the core and not the load plate. We applied Arctic Silver Lumiere to the core and after a test fitting to make sure the water block made contact with the die we fired up the test system…”

EVGA has done their normal great job with their 7900GS KO Edition card. Overclocked from the standard reference clock that NVIDIA specced the card to run at, the 7900GS brings a lot to the table including 7800GT-like performance for $199, half the price of what the 7800GT offered at launch.

Even though the OCZ PC2-8800 Gold are designed “for gamers” they still offer features that you would usually see only on high-end overclockers’ memory. Being able to run at a default of 1100 MHz DDR2 is very impressive, even though it requires around 2.4V to do that. In our testing we could get this $450 memory kit to DDR2-726 at CL3 and DDR2-1178 at CL6. This shows that this kit has something for everybody, no matter if you overclock just a little, or need insane FSB speeds.
