Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5 Motherboard Review
Motherboards.org :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
GIGABYTE has done a wonderful job with the GA-M59SLI-S5 motherboard. S5 stands for Silent Pipe, SLI, Speed, Smart and Safe. The board offers these features in spades. The addition of the Multiple SATA port adapter means that you can have up to 30+ SATA devices on this board, more than anyone could possibly want. Feature-wise the board scores above the 40 point threshhold, as the ability to use 16GB under Windows XP 64-bit, the Muli-SATA port bracket and SLI add points to the board.

Crucial PC2-5300 10th Anniversary Memory![]()
3dGameMan :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
“When looking for DDR2 memory, there are a couple of key factors to remember. One of them is the speed, but not everyone can afford the fastest memory on the market. Most will look for affordable memory that will overclock well but still have excellent memory timing. Timing is the other important factor. Finding this combination is easier said than done, but the Crucial DDR2 PC2-5300 Anniversary Memory has this and more. It not only does a fast 3-3-3-12 default memory timing at the 667MHz DDR2 speed but can be overclocked. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to push this memory to…”
Epox EP-MF570 SLI nForce 570 SLI Motherboard Review
PC Stats :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
“This is an AMD socket AM2 motherboard, supporting all current 940-pin AMD Sempron, Athlon64 X2 and FX processors of that formfactor. It’s four 240-pin DDR2 memory slots will accommodate a hardware upgrade up to 16GB of double-sided DDR2-800 memory in a dual channel configuration. Storage options are more varied than the new Core 2 Duo motherboards offer; the Epox EP-MF570 SLI has two IDE channels, one via the nVidia nForce 570 SLI chipset and one via a JMicron 3GB/s Serial ATA II/IDE controller. There are a total of eight Serial ATA II ports on the Epox EP-MF570 SLI, six of which support RAID modes 0, 1, 0+1 and 5 through the nVIDIA nForce 570 SLI chipset. All in all the Epox MF570 SLI makes a great computer upgrade, don’t you think?”

OCZ Technology Tempest CPU Cooler Review![]()
Virtual Hideout :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
“I’ve read and seen many tech sites giving this OCZ Tempest “Editors Choice” awards and other high ranking marks. I honestly don’t see how. It’s not a bad cooler, but it certainly doesn’t rank up there with the best of the best. There are too many oversights in my opinion to warrant such a high grade.”
BUSlink 400GB External Firewire & USB 2.0 Hard Drive![]()
Think Comptuers :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
“External hard drives are always a good thing to have. If your main drive dies it is always good to have a backup or a place to store your important files. Also external drives are good for transferring very large files from one computer to another. Today we are taking a look at the BUSlink 400GB External Hard Drive (CO-400-U2FE), which features both Firewire and USB 2.0 connections. You can pickup the BUSlink 400GB External Firewire & USB 2.0 drive from Geeks.com for $185, which ends up being around 46 cents per GB! Let’s take a look and see if it holds up to our storage needs.”
Backups: What You Should Know ![]()
ASE Labs :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
” Let me begin this article by asking a question to you, the reader; if your hard drive died right now, do you have a backup of the data that you need? Alright, let me ask you another question; How much is your data worth? Many readers are scratching their heads right now asking what that last question actually means. I will rephrase the question; how much are you willing to pay to retrieve your lost data? Most people would put the number in the $100 or around there range. Some people will go higher into the thousands, even more for people that have vital business information contained on the drive. I know of someone that paid over $10,000 to get data off of a few hard drives caught in a fire because they did not have a proper backup plan. Now that I have your attention, we can go through the options of each price level. ”

Uniblue Registry Booster Review
PC Mech :: Wednesday, October 4, 2006
Most computer users, with the exception of optimization junkies and advanced tweakers, never dare to tinker with their Windows Registry. As a matter of fact, most users are clueless when it comes to knowing what exactly the registry does, and amazingly, some are even unaware that the Windows Registry even exists. For the most part, computer users are never required to access or modify the Windows Registry manually, however whenever one changes their computer settings, updates their drivers, or alters an application, they are simultaneously making changes in the registry. Throughout the week, I’ve been fortunate enough to review Uniblue’s Registry Booster, a dynamic registry scanning, defragmenting, and repairing utility. In the following article, I will detail the features and abilities of this program, test whether or not the Registry Booster improves system performance and stability, and express my personal thoughts toward Uniblue’s Registry Booster.

What Apple Can Do to Trump Vista
Cool Tech Zone :: Wednesday, October 04, 2006
“Microsoft is actively moving forward with the release of their Vista operating system, and if you’ll remember, Beta 2 was released only a short time ago, but RC1 is already out the door and ready to be tested. Throughout the years of Vista’s development, it’s occasionally been hard to recognize any real progress, but once the release date approaches, things start to happen quickly.”

OCZ Tempest review![]()
Driver Heaven :: Wednesday, October 04, 2006
“When the name OCZ is mentioned, many computer enthusiasts would think immediately of their high quality RAM products and with good reason. As a company however they have diversified into many other areas of computer hardware including coolers and power supply units. While their power supply units have been a great success, their initial cooler releases have not really been the groundbreaking event they perhaps should have been. While they appeared to have good potential, they could not keep up to the competition in terms of performance or even value. OCZ is not the kind of company who rest on their laurels however, and so today we have their new universal “Tempest” cooler in our test labs. OCZ is obviously trying to take a piece of the enthusiast’s market with it, so let us see if they can should succeed this time.”

DFI LANParty UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G Motherboard
Tweak Town :: Wednesday, October 04, 2006
“While we did use the DFI LANParty UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G motherboard in our last article discussing the NF5 chipset, some might be asking, why we are doing another review? The answer is simple – we only used the DFI board for its 590SLI chipset. The focus of that article was the chipset and not so much the motherboard itself – this time we’ll be focusing more on the board and its features to work out if it is actually worth buying.”

Kentsfield quad-core performance previewed at TR
Tech Report :: Wednesday, October 04, 2006
INTEL’S FIRST quad-core processor, code-named “Kentsfield,” is now set to arrive in November, a few months earlier than originally anticipated. We already discussed the basic technology behind Kentsfield in our first dispatch from this year’s Fall Intel Developer Forum, so I won’t delve into it again here. The underlying premise is fairly simple, though: take a pair of Core 2 Duo chips, cram them together into a single package, and you have a “quad-core” processor that fits into one socket. This beast can then be dropped into a standard Core 2 Duo motherboard for mega-multiprocessing bliss under a single heat sink.
Biostar TForce P965 Deluxe Motherboard Review ![]()
PC Modding Malaysia :: Wednesday, October 04, 2006
The board has a decent layout but we wish the power connectors and IDE connector were relocated. This could cause some problems especially if you love to keep the cables tidy. Nevertheless, the motherboard worked flawlessly and lives up to its reputation. After putting it through over 24 hours of overclocked torture test, the board is still kicking. Overclocking was also pretty easy and straightforward as we could easily key in 400MHz FSB and boot straight into Windows without needing to bump motherboard voltages. The board also overclocked impressively as we achieved 472MHz FSB without a sweat”

Sunbeamtech Zorro Case Review ![]()
Hi-Tech Reviews :: Wednesday, October 04, 2006
The three 120mm fans in conjunction with Sunbeamtech’s Grand Duct System used in the Zorro; did a very nice job of cooling our overclocked AMD64 processor, yet it does so at the expense of noise. Motherboard temperatures and processor temperatures even after running prime for 30-minutes were quite impressive.
DFI NF4 Ultra-D to SLI-D Mod Guide
Overclockers Club :: Wednesday, October 04, 2006
“If you have the DFI nForce 4 Ultra-D, you may be surprised to hear that it is actually an NF4 SLI-D board with the SLI part not activated! The board is physically exactly the same apart from one tiny electrical connection on top of the chipset. So all that is stopping you from activating SLI on your supposedly non-SLI board is one tiny electrical connection. Of course, it takes a little work to get to it”
