HP + Voodoo: The Back Story
Digital Trends :: Friday, October 06, 2006
“Whenever there is a merger like this, many of us get interested in the back story. I was able to speak to executives from both firms and an interesting story emerged on why they want to do this. For HP: Margin, Leadership, Advocacy, and Image The performance gaming market is unique, while the regular PC market is largely commoditized now with razor thin margins. The performance side enjoys much stronger margins more in line with where the industry was 5 or more years ago. This is largely because the vendors in this industry tend to be closer to their customers and these customers value the extra care and unique offerings to a degree that they are willing to pay more for them. ”

NZXT Trinity case
Modders Inc. :: Friday, October 06, 2006
While looking at the NZXT Trinity I liked the shade of metal parts. It was not a chrome or a charcoal, they had a goldish color to them. The door was not huge/heavy. Personally I like short fat cases but this is the first taller case that I have liked. Windows, I usually do not care for them but this one looked like it could withstand a little abuse. The fan grills on the side I usually don’t care for either, but with the mesh it gave it the extra POP that it needed

Koolance EHX-1050SK External Water Cooling Kit Review
Virtual Hideout :: Friday, October 06, 2006

Today, we will be installing and getting a closer look at their infamous 1000kw cooling system mounted externally as the EHX 1050SK with the very much improved RP-1000SL Reservoir and Pump that has so many features, it almost belongs some place other than a computer, such as the space shuttle.”

LCD Monitor Guide – Are Higher Contrast And Brightness Better?
The TechZone :: Friday, October 06, 2006
Over the last few years, LCD monitors have increased their contrast ratios and brightness ratings. But these ratings can be deceiving if you’re not familiar with two important terms: Brightness and Contrast Ratio. In this article, we’ll discuss these two terms and hopefully the viewer will understand these terms and use them when purchasing a new LCD monitor. In addition, it is recommended you read the other parts to this article being released in the near future for a more robust overview of LCD monitors to give you more information when purchasing an LCD monitor.

Sapphire Radeon X1300 XT Overclocked Edition 256Meg Videocard Review
Tweaknews :: Friday, October 06, 2006
“When Sapphire first contacted me to review this X1300XT, I’ll have to admit I was not looking forward to it. All my previous budget videocard reviews have been predictably slow and boring to review. This card to say the least has been a surprise. Think of this lower end and cost effective option to be that little kid in your neighborhood that you have picked on only once, had your ass kicked and learned your lesson. That is what this card has done to me. I underestimated it.”

Noctua NH-U12F CPU Cooler & NF-S12-1200 Fan
Bjorn 3d :: Friday, October 06, 2006
Noctua arises from a cooperation between the Austrian Rascom Computerdistribution Ges.m.b.H and the Taiwanese Kolink International Corporation and entertains a development partnership with the Austrian Institute of Heat Transmission and Fan Technology (Österreichisches Institut für Wärmeübertragung und Ventilatorentechnik, ÖIWV). These connections form the key to the achievement of our goal: The partnership with the ÖIWV permits the application of scientific measurement instrumentation, methods of calculation and simulation technology in the R&D process. Rascom’s long, customer-oriented experience in developing and distributing sound-optimised high-end products ensures a clear focus on the users’ needs. The use of Kolink’s advanced manufacturing technology and ultra-modern production plants allows us to efficiently implement our technical edge and provide solutions of the highest standard in quality and performance at a fair price.

Microsoft: Ignore the Big Picture, Focus on Little Things
Cool Tech Zone :: Friday, October 06, 2006
“There are so many issues that Microsoft and Apple have to face when working on their operating systems that it’s difficult to understand where you would even get started if you were a part of the Vista or OS X team. Items such as security and compatibility are certainly high on the list of things to continuously refine, but that’s only the beginning.”

Corsair HX620 Modular Power Supply
Think Comptuers :: Friday, October 06, 2006
“Recently we took a look at the HP-550 from Mushkin. It was one of the first power supplies that Mushkin has released. Following the trend of memory companies jumping into the power supply market Corsair has just released the HX620 Modular Power Supply. The 620 indicates that it is a 620W power supply, which is aimed at the hardcore and enthusiast crowd. The HX620 features an active PFC, double forward switching circuitry, triple 12V rails, and a modular design. We will see if Corsair can make a successful jump into the power supply market.”

Sytrin SHF1 Ultra
Phoronix :: Friday, October 06, 2006
“After the success of the air-conditioned Nextherm ICS-8200 and VF1 Ultra, Sytrin is now preparing to introduce the KuFormula SHF1 Ultra. The Sytrin SHF1 Ultra is a HDD cooler, which promises to be multi-functional and deliver a new level of performance. At Phoronix we have several exclusive details to share on this cooling device.”

MSI GeForce NX7600GT-VT2D256E HD
Viper Lair :: Friday, October 06, 2006
“I’ve worked with a few 7600GT cards, as well as a MSI HDCP ready model. From a gaming standpoint, the image quality is very good provided you’re aware of certain limitations. While the MSI NX7600GT is fully capable of 16×12 resolution, it will choke on the latest titles at this resolution. Overall, 1280×1024 was the sweet spot in our experiences.”

A-Data DDR2 PC8000 Xtreme-Edition – 1GB kit Review
Xtreme Computing :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
“I was able to get these modules up above 1100MHz with 5-5-5-15 timings and 2.4V, but not much further. Still this is an excellent result for modules only rated at 1000MHz, and would give you some more breathing space if you are overclocking a low multiplier CPU like the Core Duo E6300’s.”

Corsair HX620W Modular PSU – The best Power Supply ever?
Tweak Town :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
“The modular design isn’t a new concept, but I think that the folks at Corsair actually listened to reviewers and did everything they could to make certain they did it right. The great flexibility offered with the included cabling shows they know that every machine is different, but that they can make sure their power supply is right for you. Another huge plus is the automatic adjustment of power levels across the 12v rail. If you happen to be running an older Athlon XP system, this won’t have a whole lot of merit for you, but anything running Athlon 64 and newer (including Intel rigs) needs a solid 12v rail to maximize stability.”

Why Alexa Is Worthless
John Chow :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
Today, my blog is the 1,421th biggest site on the internet, with a reach of 1,200! According to Alexa, my blog now get more traffic and has a greater reach than the biggest computer hardware review site on the Internet, AnandTech. Now I realize I received a ton of visitors in the past few days, but I know for a fact that it did not came remotely close to the traffic level of AnandTech. Yet, there you have it – a traffic graph showing I blew right past them.

nMedia System ICETANK Cooler
Bjorn 3d :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
It’s not often that a new company can jump right into a fierce market and offer top-quality products that are immediately comparable to the industry leaders. nMedia System is better known for its luxury line of HTPC enclosures, but with an ever-expanding market a company must grow its product line if it really wants the attention of computer enthusiasts. With a solid base of products offered right from the start, nMedia System has the means to become a major force in the aftermarket computer components market.

Asetek WaterChill Xternal High-End Water Cooling Review
OC Inside :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
There are many water cooling systems for the PC and Mac on the market, whereby the choice of the right one is not really easy. The company Asetek offers beside the well known VapoChill Compressor cooling units (see ocinside.de Test section) since a few years in addition also water cooling units with the name WaterChill. But new is the concept, that the radiator with pump unit, water reservoir, and all fans are embedded in one complete cooling unit, which is managed with a special USB control panel Software.

Antazone AS-C1000 Universal Heatpipe CPU Cooler Review
Big Bruin :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
We are going to take a look at Antazone’s one and only CPU cooler, the AS-C1000. The AS-C1000 is a giant turbine shaped cooler made entirely of bright, shiny copper… The turbine part of the Antazone heatsink is actually a tight group of 70 radial fins with 3 heatpipes wrapped around it, and the heatpipes continue on down to a rather small CPU block. The bottom is not a perfect mirror, but not too bad, and it should transfer heat rather well.

Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 Motherboard Revi
Maxit Mag :: Thursday, October 05, 2006
“The GA-965P-DQ6 ranks at the top of Gigabyte’s offerings to Core 2 Duo users seeking to push their chips to the limit. Like it’s little brother, the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 which we reviewed earlier, this board also features an all solid capacitor design. Based on the 965P chipset, the DQ6 doesn’t support crossfire, however there’s little doubt that it should overclock to high levels. Thoroughly impressed by the entry level DS3 which achieved an impressive 450 MHz FSB, we had high expectations for this board. Read on to see just how the Gigabyte GA-965P DQ6 faired when we pushed it to its limit.”
